I tried to uses search but it comes up error. I started to get more vibration then normal. I checked the front isolator and found this:

I would think this is shot. I tried to look at the rear ones and could not really see them. Is there a trick to seeing the rears?

I am going to a big bike fest this weekend. Does anyone know part numbers of isolators that would work?

OK I read this "Iso 101"

Tourque numbers are OK.

BUT don't waste your time buying the Iso listed in them. Get the new updated kit.

part number L1501.8

It has been discussed in length here

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/476 23/548623.html

It was the last major tuber project at Buell and was took almost a year to complete cause they tested it on their own bikes!

Oh yeah it is also half the price of the original and that stupid 79d 'fix'

If the PN Ll501.8 still has the -79C it, then you are buying out of date parts ...

SO, if it does not have the -79D ???

Well, I got it installed. It was not easy. I could not get the torque wrench on the outer bolts so I just tightened them up by feel. I could barely even get a regular wrench on them. I did get it on the center bolt.

2002carbon, what part (number) did you finally end up getting? And from where, if you don't mind me asking.
Thanks.

On the casting of the ISOLATOR, there will be a HARLEY-DAIDSPN PART NUMBER unless it was bought by BMC outside the HARLEY-DAVIDSON parts suppliers ...

Spidey, the Lord J-21920 you show in that link is not a "new" part.
My two year old 79D's have the same number.
Its just now being sold at a more reasonable price.

It may have the same numbers, but that is probably because they used the same mold OR that is the designate part number for that shape from the subcontractors that made it.

But here is the statement from one of the engineers that helped with the Iso Project...

It's not the same part as the 79D.
Advanced rubber compound with improved durometer which is a better fit for the vibration profile & more resistant to shear. Improved adhesive bond with the elastomer to the mount plate.

Hey Spidey! Are those readily available to order at any dealer now? I know AL was going to stock them too but last I checked he didn't have them yet. I'd like to put some back for safe keeping!

Kalali,

I called a local Harley dealer and they confirmed it was back ordered. They then did a parts search and two other local dealers had it. I called the closer one and they had a few in stock. I looked at the iso before installing and it looked nothing like the old one. It came with instructions for installing on a tube frame buell. I do remember only a couple of numbers, but it did say made in China. I got the bag that it came in and it has a date of 5/12/10 and says assembled in the usa with parts from usa and canada.

Alright thanks. The one I installed over the winter has already started to separate from the shaft. Not as bad the one in the picture and no vibes but not perfect. It lasted just around 2K miles and I weigh 150lbs and ride mostly on well paved roads.
Real garbage and I had much hassle to put it in. I hope it'll be easier second time around....

The snubber might be missing from the kit. Mine was. Had to order it separately.

I just noticed mine was missing too. I did not see it was included. When I put it together there was a washer there and I just thought that was the snubber. I wonder if that will be a problem. The washer looks smaller than what is in the pictures.

The snubber is about the size of a silver dollar.

Kalali,
It's not clear fron your post which iso you put in that only lasted 2k miles: the new one L0501.TA, or the old one.... (?)

Well, I went back to the dealer this morning and told them I did not get the snubber in my kit. They looked up the part number and did not have it. I told them probably all of their kits were missing the snubber. They went on the back and got a kit and it had it in. They cut it open and gave it to me. It's in and drives better now. Now I can sit in this 100 degree weather with a 110 heat index and sweat looking at it.
