Ok, on my way home from Homecoming the float on my 2000 M2 Cyclone stuck open (did not realize this till much later). Being stuck open it emptied the gas tank into the crank case and the trany/primary. I found this as I was walking into my shop last week and smelled gasoline. Anyhow, now that I drained all the fluids, changed them twice in about 30 minutes I am having all kinds of issues with my clutch not wanting to fully release (hard to shift) and I'm not certain but I think engine oil may be getting into the primary. What are the chances the gas wrecked all the seals and my new-ish clutch? If the seals are bad....how much work to replace them? thanks Pete |

The crank seal is a PITA...but garage-and-hand-tool-doable. I did the one on my old Evo FLHP a few years back. Have you *run* the bike with the fresh oil? If that clutch was sitting in gas for a while, you need to drain, refill with fresh oil, RIDE IT for a heat cycle or two, drain, refill again, and repeat until you're getting oil out that doesn't reek of fuel. But running it with fresh oil will help get the oil throughout the engine and primary. ....and this is why we park with the petcock shut off... (sorry - had to say it) |

Maybe you could try removing the clutch friction plates and soaking them in primary oil for a while. I would imagine the gasoline washed out the oil from the friction plates. |

The same thing happened to me after my first ride of the year. I just changed my fluids for the 4th time after that happened. I had no issues with the clutch though. |
