I finally got some pics of the S2. Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on the S2 over on the quick board. I figured since I now have the bike I will post the pics where they belong.

Joe, thanks for the heads up on the Erik Buell Racing tail section. I will have one on the way soon.

And I have to get use to the kickstand. I've almost lost it a time or two.

Now, on to the pics.

Below, you can see that the old owner (2 ago, I'm the forth owner) did some mods and ran the wires under the frame and the belt has been rubbing against them. That's my first fix. lol

Good looking bike!

You ought to think about tie wrapping the tail
light harness up as well.

If you ever decide you don't want those leg fairings let me know.
Previous owner converted my S2T to S2 bodywork so it doesn't have the stock lower fairings and bags anymore. : (

Oh, and great looking ride!

Very nice, you got the leggins and shiney sideplates too. Is that a Corbin on there? I might have missed that detail in the quickboard thread.

Looks like all you really need is a plate hanger. Have one made out of aluminum to sync with the look of the oil tank and you'll be all set.

Did you get the half-sandwich fairing bags or the under-seat bag with it?

It does have a Corbin and is very comfortable.

As far as the plate hanger, I ordered a new tail section. So I will have the whole tail replaced soon (and no HD wording) along with new turn signals.

I did get the half-sandwich bags and a tank bag. It did not have the under seat bag.

The bike is NOT a harley davidson. hate that HD stuff on an Erik Buell (pre-hd) bike. But looks snappy, otherwise.

The underseat bag is on ebay right now from a dealer. ~$25.
I really don't consider the S2 a pre-HD bike, but I'm not a fan of any reference to HD on a Buell, either.

Not really a pre HD (spit) bike but I know what you mean.... In 1998 I got worried and thought it was the end. I was wrong only in the timeframe....

The S2 is significant and it might be covered in Dave's and Court's book. (it has been a while since I read it)

The S2 was the first motorcycle from Buell to the public after the initial HD (spit)investment. Have you ever wondered why the S2 came out BEFORE the S1?

Farhen is correct, it is NOT a HD (spit).... It was not built by HD (spit) and it is no where close to being the same kind of ride as a HD (spit).... Buell, not made by HD (spit) and the only bike made it WI.

If ever ever get to talking to someone at a gas station and they ask if the bike was made by HD (spit). Tell them NO! It is made by Buell and when you tell them it is the only bike made in WI it will cook their brain.... AMHIK

The S2 represents a different time, a better time in many respects but I am glad they made new and improved bike in the years that followed.

Maybe the seal should be the new standard! I'm still working on my total S2 rebuild, when I get it done I hope to get the seal...

Very nice!

For the sidestand - either park facing UPhill (not level, not sorta-up...UPHILL), or park it in gear.

Every time.

Good lookin' bike, and glad you got fixed up with a new tail : )

Nice looking bike! I like the graphics, except for the HD, (spit) crap.
I really like the color, and you can fix that kickstand by giving it the "Aaron Wilson Bend".
It's just a nice little kink that stands the bike a little more upright.

Welcome to the club, perhaps we will see you in Michigan next year!

Keep the stand stock!

It just takes a while to get used to. But when you do, it is no big deal!

yeah, a stock stand really helps you work out the muscles of your sphincter (maybe not if you are pretty tall, but I get a good moment of OMG tightness every time! LOL)

Thanks guys. I'm sure it's a bike that I will truly enjoy.

The new tail section will be here Wednesday and then it will be off to the paint shop.

Out of curiosity, how much was the tail section? I detailed mine today, and the bubbling...while not getting worse, it's the only scar on an otherwise (I think) pretty damned nice bike.

And it bugs me. : )

Spiderman, The chamfer is working out good. You definitely gain need clearance for the shock to move. Need to mount a tire on it and sit on it to check. I will post pics when its back together.

Ummm OK...

I was referring to the 12 point bolt in the side plate...

There has to be some sort of adapter or a special order 12 point that I have never seen...

It would be a good idea if you ever tried to change a belt on the side of the road..
