What is the purpose of the rubber thing? Does it help the kick stand from sinking in the soft stuff or is it a wear indicator for when you lean too far?

What is the purpose of the rubber thing?

I have always wondered that too. I never bothered to ask the engineers LOL...

OK
just asked.

It was apparently a fall back safety feature to pop the kickstand up if left down...

It's a "flipper". Works great. Will save your ass.

Some of them did not have a side stand switch. The feds accepted the "flipper".

Oh well it doesn't work. I bypassed my kickstand switch. And i forgot the kickstand was down. I took off like a rocket and ill tell you what i pogo'ed a whole block! Scared the holly crap out of me! I must have bounced 4-5 times. Before i could get it stopped.

I will never forget the kickstand now!!!

If you want to feel like your riding a wild horse then leave it down and take off!

Preybird1: I know the feeling! My "flipper also did not do it's job as I had a senario very similar to yours and also gave me quite a Pucker Moment! I ALWAYS Check it now (sometimes Twice for good measure)

I never allow my X1 to idle unattended.
I never start it until I'm on it and geared up with the stand up!

They can't be trusted to stay put on the stand!
