I have a 97 S3. When I ride, and when bike is warmed up, every once in a while I get a sputter. It is just like a once or twice miss and then it won't happen again for maybe a half hour or an hour. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason, not more on a hot or cold day, nor distance from home, totally inconsistent and intermittent.

Any ideas about what this might be?

Thanks

Can't remember but if the 97 s3 is carb'ed but if so you have the infamous "CV Cough" re-jetting does wonders for this, There is also a possibility of an intake leak at the manifold, You can try to spray brake/carb cleaner or WD-40 around manifold and if idle changes you have a leak. Good luck!
