Curious if anyone has replaced the plastic controls on the X1 with some better quality aluminum controls from HD? Been looking at some of the HD cruisers and damn, the Al controls sure look nice as opposed to our black plastic.

HD handlebars are 1", and Buell is 7/8". Better off looking at import bikes to see if something trips your trigger.

I have a 99 S3, and I like the controls on it, they are much nicer than my Suzuki DR and my Yamaha FJR.

H-D controls aren't any better quality, anyway. They are painted pot metal, or polished chrome plated pot metal.

I've seen guys put aftermarket aluminum throttle housings on 'em (also requiring a set of cables)...and you can get different controls through distributors of offroad and dual sport gear.

I got rid of all my switchgear altogether. It's a very clean look.

Yes Mick, S2s have 1" handlebars. If I could find a good hydraulic clutch conversion, I'd put Big Dog controls on my S2.
