Hey all,
I have searched and searched, read a million times to grind the float bowl vent on the new Forcewinders. How much do you grind? This is very important information for someone looking to do this modification!! Thanks! Frank R.

Here is an old picture I saved just for reference:

forcewinder

If yours looks like the one on the right, you should open it up until it looks similar to the one on the left.

Guys,
The old Forcewinders (which the vents are cast) have the correct(larger)vent. The picture above shows that. I read the link (thank you Mick) but It still does not give me any information beyond "make the vent larger". Is it that basic that it just needs to be a bit "larger" and not to a specific dimension? Thanks again guys! Frank.

Yup! No Set deminsion! This was a mod someone did after noticing a hic-up and after some thinking This person came to the conclusion that the narrow oppening was causing a restriction. He then opened up that area and Ta-Da! Better running scoot! I also think a dyno run was done too but don't quote me on that

Wow.. That is kind of sketchy.. I'm not sure I like the idea of just "opening it up". I would hate to harm the performance..

You won't hurt the performance, just hog it out to look like the one on the left.
The problem was figured out by Aaron Wilson while trying to dyno tune a carbed tuber.
Somewhere in the archives is a picture.
If memory serves, there is also pictures on the NRHS site.

Found it:

Here's my suggestion, I also had a new style part and was unsure how much material to remove so I blew up the photo to the proper dimension and used it as a pattern to guide my mod. Seemed to turn out fine:

Very interesting stuff here. What if my forcewinder has a 3/8" or so ring of metal that goes in between it and the carb? Anybody have that?

The spacer should have a hole where the breather is.

You can also lay a carb gasket on top of it, if you hog out the force, the gasket hole will be your most restrictive place.
