My freakin derby cover fell off

Lucky for me it made a distinct "tink tink tink" sound so I was able to park on a sidewalk and walk a bit and find it. I was right at the end of a highway off ramp when it happened. It's normally very busy there but someones watching over me as there was a huge gap in traffic at the time I spotted it so I was able to just walk over and get it. No one ran over it and it still had my gasket attached. I also didn't loose the clutch adjustment nut and spring. Very lucky.

Boy you were lucky! Now would be a good time to replace those crappy torq head bolts and replace with some nice dependable allen heads, Save you alot of headaches!

4 new TOREX SCREWS, a T-27 bit, and TORQUE to 6 ft.lbs MAX. ...

In a cross pattern(as best you can), TORQUE to 2 ft.lbs., then 4 ft.lbs., and finish with 6 ft.lbs. ...

Co-worker drove me to the H/W store and I got new bolts.

Great advice above from all. I had actually done all of that except the Lotto ticket. Replace with nice SS Allen head screws, torqued in a cross pattern; first 3 ft. lbs, then 6 ft. lbs (I'm somewhat lazy).

Only other thing I didn't do was use Blue lock-tight. I had planned to check my fluid level soon and maybe re-adjust the clutch if needed so I left that off last time.

Off to buy a lotto ticket on the way home.

Note to self: Add checking the tightness of the derby cover screws to the "pre-flight" checklist.
The list keeps getting longer and longer....

My preflight checklist for this bike is getting longer than the one I had for my old Triumph Spitfire....Hopefully there are less parts that could fall off the bike....
