Ok. Been planning on attending Homecoming for 6 mo's now.
Yesterday my tranny locked up. Heard an odd noise when riding. Pulled over. The belt almost fell off. Took it apart. Looks like bearing let go. Also broke a shift fork (3rd & 5th) & Speed sensor got ground down. Everything else looks good.

I have parts coming. Come hell or high water, this X1 will be put back together ready to ride out with the "crew" Friday morning!

I never saw this coming. No problems at all with this trany/clutch. Shifted fine and not a drop of oil on the ground when parked.
Rear belt has always been adjusted as per the manual.
What the hell happened?
I always thought these trannys were bullet proof with proper maintenance?

I hope to see you guys in East troy this weekend.....?

Ouch, that sucks. I know what you mean, I always thought the bottom ends were bullet proof until I had to split the flywheels and several square bearings and two out of three bearing cages fell out. Regular oil changes and maintenance but still a catastrophic event. It's back up and running, with some goodies. Hope you can get back on the road quick.

"Rear belt has always been adjusted as per the manual.."

You are probably going to get a lot of feedback on this...Apparently this is yet another area where the Manual needs to be corrected...
Scary loose seems to be the consensus.

Kal, I went a bit looser than the books recommends. However, What I'm concerned about is when I sit on the bike. This belt is way tight. Is that the norm?
Please...anyone chime in!
I only have a few hours to make any final adjustments. The trany is back together.

Thanks
