I love the lines, how they extend the tank lines.

Especially in warm weather, though, it would be nice to show off the V-Twin more, let it breathe/cool better, and get more air flow on my legs as well.

Does anyone else run his S2T without the leg fairings part or all of the year? In colder weather, are they providing much of a difference in protection?

As I said, for the looks, I love both with and without.

edit: oops - can a mod please slide this post into the S2 section, where I thought I was posting?

I've ran both with and without them on my S2T.

To me, they do hold the heat in against your leg in the summer. They do, however, seem to protect your legs from rain, cold, and snow...

I took them off because I was tired of having to take them on/off whenever I wanted/needed to get at the air cleaner.

Frank Skinner had a neat little trick that he showed me on his. I may try this at some point (just haven't taken the time yet).

He put wing-nuts on his mounting hardware so that he could quickly and easily take them off to work on the bike. Maybe he can post up some shots. It should make things alot easier to mount/remove the lowers.

I wish I had some, so they're worthless. Just send them to me and I'll dispose of them properly for ya ; ).

I did something similar to Frank. on the right side, there are three bolts - the front top is the tank screw; rear top is a hose clamp and nut setup; lower is the same as the rear top.

I took off the fairing. Where the tank screw went through the tab on the top front...I cut a notch, making the tab from an O shape to a U shape. Loosen the screw, slide it out.

Rear and lower points, I permanently mounted the clamps to the frame in the right place, with a nut and loctite.

Top rear, I spaced out two more nuts, locked them together, to make an 'outer' stop. I also made that tab into a U notch, but pointed sideways (open to the back).

Bottom, I use a wing nut.

Installation is: slide top rear point between the inner nut and the jammed pair of nuts. Pivot front point up to the tank screw. Tighten tank screw. Fit lower point over screw; attach with wingnut.

I set the left side up similarly, but instead of the jam-nut setup on the rear point there was enough room to get a hand in to work a wingnut, so there's a notch up front and 2 wingnuts on the others.

If you want pics, let me know. She's partially disassembled now for charging system diagnosis anyway : )

First pic, top front, right fairing (fuel tank cover is removed, I was working on electrical...). With this setup, you only have to loosen the cover screw a couple turns and can slide the lower out:

The next, upper rear mount for the same side. Turn the notch sideways (a backwards "C", open end to the rear of the bike) and you have what I did to the fairing itself. The nut closest to the frame, holds the clamp in place permanently. The 2 nuts outside of the lower bracket are jammed together to lock them in place, leaving the gap for the tab to fit into. I did it this way because this mount point is not accessible with the tank cover on, and I attach this point first, then rotate the front upper into place, then use the wingnut to attach the bottom mount point (second picture below).

I have the left side set up the same way for the front/top mount (C-notch), but since you can get to the top rear mount on that side it, as well as the lower mount, are wing-nutted. All three wingnut points are permanently mounted to the frame with a locknut; I just add the fairing and wingnut when I put the lowers on.

I think you'd need to rotate the air cleaner to the stock S2 diagonal orientation to get the front of it to clear.

If you don't think you'll do that, I'll take 'em. Some guy wrote all over mine.... ; )

The last time mine were on was for my profile picture. I think that was about 8 years ago? The right one got scratched and I just left them off.
