Anyone use those "cut to length" spark plug wires? I want to put new ones on the bike but I'm having a hell of a time finding any local.

They used to be a stocked shelf item but like you I haven't seen any for years. I used a set on an old Z-28 with great results. Good luck finding some.

I looked at a few places on line and it looks like most want your measurements and will make them for you but Amazon had some kits.

My bad... I meant I couldn't find factory replacement plugs and was looking at universals as an alternative. I did some searching, looks like the universal kits don't come with ends that match the Buell coil...

On that note...

Would a set of wires from an EFI Sportster work???

I'm not sure but I don't see why they wouldn't. I was looking over a friends 2000 883 a couple of weeks ago and lots of stuff looked like it would switch over. I was mainly eye balling his speed sensor since mine bit the dust.

Other than the connection type at the ends, generally the length of the cable is the main factor. There is really nothing special about the Buell FI cables. BTW, they cost around $4 from the dealer.

I bought a universal plug wire kit at O'Reilly's for an 8 cyl. car. Part #5553. It comes with different ends and a crimping tool that uses a vise. Be sure you also pickup a spray can of di-electric grease which will make it easier to pull the wire thru the boot. I got enough for 4 bikes. They also have other sets but I picked this one.

When I was working on an electrical noise problem I bought about 3 sets of 'generic' spark plug wires that fit on my M2. I was trying different 'suppression' wires.

I found a hot rod speed shop that sold Jacobs supression wires made to any length, so when I brought in my Buell's wires, they made a custom set of low resistance high performance silicone supression wires with the boots bonded in place.

There's a couple H-D SE wire sets I've used before.

I can't recall the original application.
