I was searching for info on replacing my battery and within the multitude of different opinions, I came across a post from 2008 talking about using Dewalt battery packs to make custom bike batteries. I was wondering if anyone had any additional information or if anyone has actually done it themselves and would like to shed some light on this mod (because naturally I am very intrigued.) Would I be correct in assuming that an altered charging setup would be required? If so, any thoughts?

Another thought... Best "normal" battery? (Value in mind.)

Thanks for reading,
Kevin

Look for a "BATTERY PLUS" Store in your area ...

best 'normal' battery is the H-D OEM piece

I've put 2 so-called 'highest-quality' Yuasa units in my '99 M2 -
both failed in less than 6 months, torn apart by the "raw powah of the M2" !!

H-D really did get the battery [at least!] correct the 1st time.......

Best value is a HD battery. 12 years on the bike and I've only replaced the battery ONCE!

Yes, it's VERY hard to beat the HD battery...

Check around, the oem is a very good battery and it was $8 cheaper at HD than at Walmart if you can believe that.

Thanks a lot for your input. Sounds like the HD battery is the ways to go. Just curious, How many cranking amps does the X1 need to start? <terminology>

Prey - was the Interstate an AGM (no fill holes) or Lead Acid (with fill holes)? Thx.

Weird. My H-D wanted under $80 for mine the last time I needed one.

Just find a AGM that fits the hole and you will be fine.
