So the craigslist listing said “buell part out” Its A 98 M2 minus wheels, shock and plastics, a motor and 3 boxes of parts. Well I happened to have most of the needed parts and didnt want to see another one gone so i got another tuber. I was looking for a s1 but had to save this one from the choppin block.

last monday night

tuesday night

wednesday night

and heres what it might look like when i get it done

got most of the wiring sorted this weekend and if i can find a few parts it could be running soon

Holy hell, that's literally a bike in a box. Or in this case a bike scattered on the ground. Good save!

Tod, good for you! It's good to see one saved rather than the other way around. You got a title with it too? That is usually the bad part of those chopper builds.

Hi
Good Job
But why did you put the fork the wrong way round ?
Caliper brackets are normally on the back of the fork legs or ?

It was a fun job watching the pile of parts dwindle. 10 years of S1 maintenance means I've been over about every inch...just not all at once!
Ya Basti the forks were some work, I put the front end on, wheel on and dropped it down. Then after most was torqed realized the headlight mounts were missing, ok put it all back together and then I find the forks are reversed when I finally go to put the brake on ( not sure if I did it or they came that way, my excuse is that the R one is got a broken reflector and a little road rash just like the L side of the bike). Besides that its going together pretty good.
Parts I'm in need of are a ignition switch and key, clutch switch, both relays(are they buell specific?), flasher relay, head light and wiring, full speedo and drive and cable, front axle spacers, rear axle sliders, front fender brace, choke cable, tail light mount and a tail section

looking good...you've been busy.

Bummer about the forks..and twice..

Clutch switch is not really needed.
I've bypassed all my safety switches,(just another thing to fail).Just remember to start in neutrel,to pull clutch in.
The relays aren't Buell specific,just 5 pin
relays.

so had some time this after noon and got it to turn over! half the wiring isnt done (gauges and lights) but i think it should run, and it doesnt. Have a old battery and with a good charger it just goes clickity click. with the plugs removed it clicks quit loudly for 5 seconds then turns over, the question is is this all due to the battery or some thing in the wiring? I have all 3 wires from the ignition twisted together for a key is this right? I have spark so its getting close to being alive!

I am still in need of all the parts above and a K and N sized air filter, and what size(length from hole to hole) are the rear exhaust straps?

So its alive... Kinda, started right up with a good battery but there's a oil leak right above the ignition pplate on right side, and it got a lot of engine noise hopefully its just dry tappets but we'll see.
So I get to dive into the only place I've never been on a tuber, inside the Right side of the crank case, here we go.
