Been a while since I was in there, but I want to say they're the same in the gauges as in the idiot lights. It's been years, though...and my manuals are out in the garage.

One thing I did was pull the little orange/yellow rubber boots ("bulb condoms") off all my gauge lights. I got tired of looking at yellowish gauges; now they seem clearer to me and are a bit brighter as well : )

The idiot lights are TINY. They are also nearly impossible to replace.
My "N" burnt out first and I tried and failed to find a replacement tiny bulb.
I was about to rig up an LED but then my hibeam burnt out.
Found the whole shebang with bulbs was $60.
plug'n play!
swapped it in the H-D parking lot : )

I kept the old one so that I can do the LED project when the new one burns out.

Now the idiot lights on the gauges are a different story.
The low-fuel light has to be a specific value in order for the fancy detector to work.
Remember that just because a bulb fits, doesn't mean that it the right wattage.
I installed some bulbs that looked right from an autozone but they were too bright at night.
They were half the price of the H-D ones though. (The right ones were like $1.30)

Pretty sure the idiot lights are a #70 (T15 wedge base).
