I did that snubber thing after my first isolator blowout. Still blew out.

A testament that there was a bad batch of those I believe. I am still on the third one with about 3000 miles on it but I changed to the NHRS mount. I need one of these new kits for a backup.

The snubber washer is indeed just a fender washer, nothing all that special. None of my kits came with them, but I ordered just snubber washer to put in the kits that I had, wasn't worth waiting for HD to figure out how to make them whole. I'll have the kits up on the website in tomorrow.

I measured them, from memory, they are 2.0" OD, .40something (.408" I think) ID, and .08" thick.

Ebutch,
Yeah, I was new to HD having owned kawis for the most part. They left the derby cover loose one time and I did a nice long slide when the rear tire got all oiled up. Didn't drop it, just scared the bejeebus outta me.

The service manage came and got the bike, cleaned it up and basically gave me a deal that made the next service free. He got canned shortly there after. I bought a service manual and found BadWeb.

October fest sounds cool. The bike looks a little different these days. The white parts turned orange. I also added A CF hugger and tank accents for Al @ American Sport Bike. (not in pic)

O-kay guys, I hate to keep this thread going but I have hopefully one of those dumb questions. I just recieved my new iso kit, the main/large bolt is 7/16 inch. The original bolt in my 01 S3T is 1/2 inch. Is there a problem, or am I over thinking this. I recently installed a 79D iso and I driller the hole out to fit the 1/2 inch stuff, HELP !!!!!

Been running the -79D reamed out to 1/2" on my S3 for 22 months and on my X1 for over a year without any issues.

I'm not saying bigger is better but I don't like the idea of a 7/16" bolt in the 1/2" hole of the front Iso mount.

BUELLers:

"YOU" have to remember the BIG TWIN MOTOR SITS on the -79D so the smaller bolt just keeps it in place !!!

"NOW", in the BUELL application the engine "HANGS" from the -79D ...

"SO", be SAFE and use the 1/2 inch bolt and drill out the 7/16 hole !!!

Well, I have about 600 miles on the new isolator. Before (with the last improved isolator) I got vibrations in the throttle side of the handle bar. So much so that my hand would go numb. With the new isolator I get less vibrations in the throttle side and more in the left bar. It is more evened out. It does seem to me that the bike vibrates more.

I did a good check of the isolator an no cracks.

It just makes the sweet spot, 3800 to 4200 rpms, more important to me and I really did not notice much more vibrations until I rode 300 miles yesterday. It is more wear on the rider than anything else I think.

Ebutch, I will be real interested in what you have to say when you get the chance.

Frank
