The contents of the bottle was contraband. Being the man you are, I suspect you (and your liver) destroyed the evidence!

Trust me . . . Indiana Jones will find the Holy Grail before any evidence of that bottle is found.

The only person qualified to conduct the search is far away in Chicago anyway.

That baby is history.

Truth be told, that uniquely labelled bottle is a keepsake, destined to live next to the long-since-empty bottle that Blake brought out to the Ranchito del Pinche Chingadero several years ago. The contents of Blake's jug were literally old enough to vote and they were exquisite. Jay's bottle's contents are evaporating at a sedate pace, but the bottle has a story and will likely survive for a long time.

I have seen this in magizines.......(there may be more than one??)...........anyway, lots of lookers there.

The S2 is purring like a kitten. Off to Ca. tomorrow.

Hey.....I stayed away from the "special label"......I SAW what is does!!

Ride safe.....Jack

Just outside Flagstaff....route 66 stuff is pretty much everywhere.

The real thing...just before Barstow........rode it for a few miles........was it very rough.
could just see riding a no suspension Harley it for days.

Where is ends.....Santa Monica Blvd.....very disappointed as there was nothing............no markers/street sings even. Guess the ultra high priced real estate is better used for other stuff.

I'll head up the pacific coast highway going home tomorrow.

Ride safe.......Jack

I've really enjoyed your pictures too Jack! You got an especially great one of JET on his bike at Camp Live Oak (it's become increasingly hard to get good pics of him, 'cause he never stops moving!). I'd like to nominate Jack as official photo-chronicler of the S2 gatherings (a nomination he could surely "duck", should he so choose ) assuming he continues to attend future gatherings (a fair assumption, I'll wager ). His pictures render most of mine redundant and I'll have to carefully cull through them to find those that might be interesting or relevant. He certainly has "the eye" and the equipment. Of course there would need to be some sort of prize, award, etc. for such a position. Just a thought...
On another note, I'd like to see an online "place" that all attendees could upload their photos to, fully high-resolution. Then all attendees could easily access all of their photos, plus those that everybody else took, for downloading. I looked at Herr van Voast's SmugMug account, but although it is free to try, it does cost actual money to continue to use. This doesn't necessarily deter me, but I don't think that the cost for an online site should be laid upon one person month after month. Maybe we could set up an account that each of us could contribute to, to pay for such a thing. Anyone else have any thoughts about this?
Alternatively (or in conjunction with), each of us could email their photos to one individual (I'd be happy to volunteer) who would then combine them onto DVDs and send them out to attendees. Frank and I had spoken about something like this before this year's gathering. Anyway, I'll shut up now...here's a picture...

Jay, that is a great idea on the photos. Would the Yahoo S2 group site work for that? It has a photo album section and everyone could have access.

-off topic alert-

Frank made the comment at the gathering that "now he (Ross) has brakes." while it's a great setup, I was using pads that were half gone and a rotor that was badly used. I finally got my Erik Buell Racing rotor in a couple days ago that I had bought from an individual 3 weeks ago, and, after some work, got my new sintered pads in as well. NOW I have front brakes lol.

I second the nomination of Jack as our official photographer. Every single picture I have with him in it has him either taking pictures or carrying his camera in readiness to take pictures:

Plus, he's great company and a seriously dedicated rider!

Plus 1, they do not get any better than Jack. The S2 Gathering is the only get together, rally or whatever Jack does every year. I am glad he comes...

I think every person that showed up is the best out there.

Buell Riders at their best... no bickering, no blaming, no complaining (ok, I did, about the heat)...

I am honored that you all let me be a part of this group and I have to question everyones sanity for that...

I have an urge for a Shiner Bock....

Court.......check out the straps on the saddle bags. From your laptop sage of years gone by.

Well...........back home. Took Highway 1 most of the way. Like Route 66 ,it is slowly going away in the Southern Ca. area.................just running through city street and a little hard to keep on in places. 101 is the alternate............sometimes they run concurrent and sometimes just side by side. Farther North it is a 4 lane divided..............(so that will be there for a LONG time).

In-between is just a great road carved into the cliffs.................wonderful stuff!!

A view like this for miles..................

Back in the garage..................this is for Erick and Jackie.

Ride safe...........Jack

Took me a minute, Jack. I thought you meant your dog mooning us!

We saw the Carlsbad Caverns today and I have to say it is unbelievably beautiful. We are overnight in Roswell. Heading for Amarillo tomorrow to retrieve the car, get a visit with Ross if he's free for a coffee or a lunch or whatever, then back west and heading for home via Arizona and California.

Its been a splendid vacation for us from day one. Not done yet but we have to say thank you for the hospitality from Frank and Lynn to Ross to Butch to Denny and Jay. Speaking of whom, Jay was going to post a pic for Jaci and me.

Y'all are the best.

Hahahaha . . that was 15 years ago. Still a great lesson and one of the funnier Buell stories of all time.

The S2 just evokes so damn much emotion. This has been really fun to watch over the last week. . . what a great group.

Was that the new Lumix camera Jack? I've been stalking them on Craigslist. In theory not that much better then my Fuji F31FD, but I really want the WIIIIIDEEEEEE angle and wouldn't mind the image stabilization.

Reepicheep...........It's a Canon G10. I like it because of the raw capabilities. I had last years Lumix.........(just sold it).......very nice camera. Pretty good low light and great HD movies, but no raw. Smaller that the G10 too. Still trying to get a "good" travel camera..........may just get a Rebel. The G10 sadly lacks doing multi frames.

I'd like to say some "Thank You"s regarding the Texas S2 Step.

First and Foremost, Thank You to everybody that attended; S2 people are a singular breed. Some of you traveled a long way to get there and that's one of the things that makes it special for me.

Second, Thank You, Master Sergeant Skinner, for originating the idea that has grown into such a cool happening;

Thirdly, Thank You to Ross "Phelan" Daigle for volunteering Texas as this year's gathering point, helping organize and for generally being a terrific cheerleader for S2s. Also, for crashing, so I didn't have to!

Next, Thank You to all those who donated "swag" to give away:
Frank "Muell" Skinner
Denny "da Bomb" Bahm
Dan and Cil at NRHS Performance
Doc "Doc" Vickers at Central Texas H-D/ Buell
David Lanz (?) at Harley-Davidspit (I know, I know, but he did get us some posters and keychains and shipped 'em out to me on his own time and on Harley's dime)
And, of course, Me!

Again, Thank You to Jack van Voast for doing such a great job of photo-chronicling everything (well, thankfully, not everything...);

Then, Thank You to those who contributed to the gastronomic success (and general drunken buffoonery) of The Gathering:
Denny "da Bomb" Bahm (again)(spagetti dinner)
Tom "Roadthing" McCarroll (okra deluxe)
"Kosmic" Carl Betancourt ("Yellow Dog Lemonade"...in jars!)
Christian "78753" Ninaud (cooking/camping utensils and master of the barbeque grill)
Everybody "Everybody" Else who brought beer and shared it!

Also Thank You to Butch and Joyce, proprietors of Camp Live Oak, for keeping such an inviting place to stay, and for the occasional wild Central Texas small town story, courtesy of Butch ("beer is a right, not just a privilege!");

And finally, a BIG Thank You to my lovely wife, Ellena, a terrific organizer, without whom you'd all have been hungry, thirsty and very angry at me!

HellBuelly J

P.S. Oh yeah, Thank You to Brad "BluzM2" Johnson. Who knew he was such an entertaining guy?

P.P.S. If I've left anybody out, I'm sorry, it's just because I don't like you, or maybe I just forgot...what was I saying...?

Thanks Jack! I accept the limitations of jpeg compression and on camera processing in the same way I accepted the grain artifacts of Tri-X push processed to 800 and developed in Ektar (for better or worse).

The idea of an effective 23mm f2.0 with ISO-1600 to ISO-3200 (at lower resolution, just enough for an 8x10) that will fit in my pocket and costs less then $300 has me drooling... So far it just hasn't reached the "under $300" part yet : )

The Great White Northern Invasion continues...
Eric and Jaci traveled on to Austin after the S2 Step. They stayed with Denny for a night and then in an hotel in town. I introduced them to Chuy's restaurant and then we went down to SoCo (South Congress Avenue) to hear Jon Dee Graham and James McMurtry play at the Continental Club 'til the wee hours. They woke me up far too early the next morning and forced me at gunpoint to lead them out of Austin and on their way to destinations westward...

Leaving the hotel too early:

Visiting Stevie Ray before setting out:

At a restaurant on the lake in Marble Falls:

Hey! Are they gonna "moon" us?!!

Ahhhh! A small, yet permanent, remembrance of the S2 Gatherings. The Lone Star for Texas, the mountain range for Colorado and, of course, the Pegasus for Buell!

Very nice! It was great hanging out with y'all and I hope to see you next year in the UP.
