Can someone give me a quick bit of advice.

I have a 95 Thunderbolt after siting over the winter it will not allow gas to the carb I pulled the gas line off the pitcock and there is fuel. I can squirt fuel into the card and it will start and run for a short time. I did this quite a few times but still it will not prime. On other bikes I have had the pitcock had a vacuum line that would stop the flow of gas if there was no vacuum but that is not the case here. is this a case of a stuck float pin. The card seems very hard to get to.

Is there a way to prime this any other way.

Thanks in advance for your help

Sounds like a stuck float bowl... Take the fuel line off at the Carb end so see if it is getting fuel, odds are it is. Take the carb apart, clean and rebuild it. It is a simple process...

The carb rebuild kits can be had from your local dealer or through HD aftermarket sources. I do not think Al at American Sport Bike carries them.

Without a doubt you need to clean that carb. It's probably easier to just go to the Harley dealer and pick one up, as much as we all pretty much hate them now.

There is a pressure release hose that goes from the top of the gas cap ring to a hose that goes down to the bottom of the bike.

If that gets pinched it could cause vapor lock but I doubt that is the problem...

Get you some carb or injector cleaner(spray can w/ spray tube) Pull the fuel line off carb and spray a couple of good shots into carb where the hose attaches(long shot, but has worked in the past)reconnect hose and work throttle several times to see if it's spraying any fuel into the intake.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Thanks again for the replies I will check the vent line for the tank cap. I did have the tank off after the problem so I doubt that is it. The bike has run great up to this so I really do not want to replace the carb at this point yet. I am going to try and unstick the float pin first maybe a little carb cleaner down the fuel line would be a great start. Are new carbs really expensive does anyone know?

You don't need a new carb. and yes a new carb. is. Try the carb. cleaner as I described and if that doesn't work, take the carb off ,clean it with carb cleaner and some air if you have it. Put it back together and you haven,t spent anything. If your not comfortable doing it, find a Buell or Harley guy nearby that is. There are thousands of guys that do their own work and most would be glad to help you out.
