Hey All!
I had heard that someone was making a meagphone that will bolt onto my stock header. Has anyone heard of such a thing? OR, does anyone know of a MORE freeflowing muffler then the carbon V&H i'm currently using?
I dont care about volume at all as the part of the country i live in, louder the better. Most bikes be it sports or cruiser use non baffled exhausts.
Thanks

Made one up for my 1997 S3T around 1997/1998 ...

Performance felt good by the seat of my pants ...

Put it on my bike and the noise level was a little more than the amount of noise "i" wanted to make ...

Therefore "i" never put my bike on a DYNO for the real proof of the pudding as DYNO's do not lie ...

Will do the job if you set your timing correctly for it and jet your carburetor at 12 to 1 fuel /air ratio ...

Have pictures and measurements ...

E-mail me(Ljenne73c@verizon.net)and you get the pictures and info ...

Proper jetting is dependent on a lot of factors. All bikes are different. My old Lightning heads did best at 12:1. The XB heads made the most power at 13.5:1. It is dependent upon combustion chamber shape, size, piston shape, squish area; shape and size (if any), swirl characteristics, and a whole bunch of other factors I could only hazard a guess upon.

That said I do not know who makes such a slip-on.

The V&H is a straight through perforated core. It should work just fine unless there's a need to make more noise.

Find a Buell race system or get a Force megaphone exhaust if you want a little more power.

My V&H works pretty well.
At optimum tune there's a small flat spot, which is acceptable.
Ideally i'd opt for a little smoother ramp and a little more on the top end, PLUS More noise which i do love!

I have a Force exhaust, which has a megaphone, that I'll be selling cheap in about 4 weeks. I'm picking up a Kooks exhaust when I get back from Leakey.

D&D used to make a tuber megaphone I have one on my 96S1 its all welded up and its a D&D. Barks like a dog if you want it to.
Isn't the Kooks a reverse megaphone?

Yup,
I actually had a line on a D&D Megaphone but it caved in. Thats what started me on this journey. I'm not sure about the KOOK's. It so far has been priced out of my league.

The Kooks Ross is buying was on sale here awhile back and never sold. It was also on eBay and didn't sell. Apparently no one wanted it.

Ross, let Edoardo buy it, at least he won't hack it to shit. HAHAAAAAHAHAHA

I've got a Bullett exhaust for a 2 1/2" tuber, I've been thinking about giving someone a chance to enjoy.

I cut mine off and threw it in the trash. Loud pipes don't save lives, they just cause car owners to take a very negative view of motorcyclists.

Does anyone else wonder why whenever there is a discussion about exhaust someone always chimes in with no relevance to the question about how they do not like loud exhaust? Who cares if you like loud exhaust or not. Who walks in to a dealership and says “I’ll take that v –twin because I like quite bikes”. I mean really go buy a moped and shut up. Sorry about the hostility due to another post.

Get a distinguished BMW. Start sneaking up on motorists and stop waving at fellow riders.....if you havent already.

BTW my S1dub has a V&H and I wouldnt mind a few more dBs. I like the sound. I dont like cars drifting through lanes at me. When driving my truck I get pissed at myself when I dont notice a rider splitting lanes behind me. If their bikes made more noise than an electric razor people would hear them coming and have a chance to let them by. Especially in California, where its legal to split.

I too wish not to have lashed out at a fellow badweber.

Not taking sides but I have noticed that pipes aren't a saving factor when someone is engrossed in a phone conversation. They don't hear trucks, bikes, ambulances, etc. They are in their own world.

SS doesn't make the muffler for the tubers anymore. They quit around 2003-4 or so.
They had lots of problems with the mounts breaking.
They sound good but are loud as hell.
Not quite like a Force or D&D but close.

+1 on the daytona boss.
Stupid loud but makes my old X1 run right.
Also enough clearance to change out the tranny juice.
Horrid sucky mounting hardware though.

Too true about drivers being in their own worlds. I figure the more I can penetrate those car's premium factory sound systems and bluetooth earbuds the safer I'll be. Motorists will always be oblivious to us, but we can always try to get their attention.

I should have posted alittle more info sorry. No they don't make it for the bike, but the exact muffler they do still make you would just have to have an exhaust shop put the elbow on it. My muffler shop here Quoted me $20 fer the elbow and the weld job.

I too had problems with the clamp on the front, but I bought the race header shoe from Al and all problems went away. Unfortunately I dont have experience with any other exhaust to compare sounds but I do know I love mine.

SS calls the muffler the Turbo Tail-2, they told me it is the muffler they used for the DB. It's just missing the elbow. Please let me know if you have different info just for my own info Thanks

All i have to say is that when i had my v&h muffler people would occasionally try and merge into me.

After i put the kooks on, i havnt had one person wander into the lane with me.

I brazed my mounts to the pipe and reinforced the mounting holes with steel tubing.
I bolted it all together before I tacked it on.
It's under no stress at all and I don't need to carry a 1/2" wrench anymore : )
