I have a 99 Lightning X-1. I put a set of Bridgestone Battleax on the bike last year. The rear tire is showing the steel belting right down the center. I am thinking about buying Shinko tires. Can anyone tell me if theses are good tires...that will last a little while. Thanks!

Having just worn out the front Shinko
(was on my X1 when I bought it),
it hasn't been too bad handling wise, the sides have worn out quite a bit compared to the middle.Could just be the way i ride.....
I wouldn't rate it that great in the wet, felt it slip a couple of times.

If i was low on cash i would think about buying them.
I just don't think they suit my heavy wrist riding style, oh and year round riding. Its coming up to winter here so need good tyres for the rain..

They worked pretty well for me, I had put about 1500 miles on my shinkos and didnt see very much wear on the rear. I don't do anything crazy though. Mostly straight to school and back. But for the money, they were worth it. Think I got both for around 130

There are 2 types of shinko tires I looked at - I ended up going with the sportier, but no doubt less long-lived 006 Podiums, instead of the 009 Ravens, which are Shinko's longest wearing offering.
I haven't yet used them, since I'm still working on the new-to-me S1W, so I can't tell you how they perform.
