I have a 99 Lightning X-1. I put a set of Bridgestone Battleax on the bike last year. The rear tire is showing the steel belting right down the center. I am thinking about buying Shinko tires. Can anyone tell me if theses are good tires...that will last a little while. Thanks! |

Having just worn out the front Shinko (was on my X1 when I bought it), it hasn't been too bad handling wise, the sides have worn out quite a bit compared to the middle.Could just be the way i ride..... I wouldn't rate it that great in the wet, felt it slip a couple of times. If i was low on cash i would think about buying them. I just don't think they suit my heavy wrist riding style, oh and year round riding. Its coming up to winter here so need good tyres for the rain.. |

They worked pretty well for me, I had put about 1500 miles on my shinkos and didnt see very much wear on the rear. I don't do anything crazy though. Mostly straight to school and back. But for the money, they were worth it. Think I got both for around 130 |

There are 2 types of shinko tires I looked at - I ended up going with the sportier, but no doubt less long-lived 006 Podiums, instead of the 009 Ravens, which are Shinko's longest wearing offering. I haven't yet used them, since I'm still working on the new-to-me S1W, so I can't tell you how they perform. |
