So, my 00 X1 race strip just got stolen out front of my house last night. I usually lock it up, but the mofos must check up on it every once in a while to see if its still locked cuz last night I didnt. Luckily, I have comprehensive coverage on it so it won't be too bad, but I'm sure you all know how much it would hurt to lose your bike. Any ideas on maybe how to track it down? Already files a police report and insurance claim. Figured maybe call around to local shops and give them a heads up if anyone comes around trying to sell any buell/sportster parts. |

Call Redneck and see if they've sold any Mutant frames for Buell motors in your area lately! Motorcycle thieves are like horse thieves; you catch 'em, you hang 'em on the spot! HellBuelly J |

I bought my bike from a friend. Before I owned it it was stolen from my friend. An add turned up on Craigslist and the police were already looking into it before my friend found out. They busted the guy and recovered the bike. Now I own it. |

Nice. I would be extremely happy if that happened in my case! But that guy must have been incredibly stupid to expect to sell a bike. No title or keys? I'm sure mine is in a million pieces already anyways. btw, who is redneck? |

That's a bunch of $hit, I would kill those bastards!!!! Man i feel for ya there, I had my truck stolen out of my driveway. They found it in California just outside of Sacramento and since i wasn't close enough to get it soon. So the highway patrol had it towed to the police impound lot and i had to pay for it. $250+ 20 a day for storage fee's and the bus ticket fee. I am glad greyhound let me take my big tool box on the bus. I am waiting for lowjack service for UT. as soon as it is available i will have it on all my toys. They only have service in 22 states so far. http://www.lojack.com/ |

I spent a year restoring a Moto Guzzi CX100 LeMans, then it got stolen from me at a rally in Tennessee. It's been 13 yeras and I still run the VIN in Google and check the sights once in a while, It was yellow and black, I thought for sure it would turn up. I hope yours turns up, they do once in a while. |

This most likely isn't it, but it popped up on the Minneapolis Craigslist yesterday. 2000 red racing stripe number 342. You might list the number of yours if you know it. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/ank/mcy/17034616 97.html |

Too bad. Most stolen motorcycles get parted out. |

I'll watch eBay and let you know...What colors and all that was it? Did your bike have any custom pieces to look out for? |

Yeah, it was #689. Damn, those are some pretty crazy stories. You would think that with modern technology it would be easier to track vehicles down. It had a modified force intake, a few inches longer to fit into the stock airbox cover; force exhaust, corbin seat, crossroad handlebars, N6 cams, and a race ecm. Oh well. Insurance will be covering it if it isn't found. |

Yeah sorry, it was red. This is exactly where it was stolen from too. When I move, I'm gonna get a sweet security system from Costco. They have those Digital recording ones with 4-8 cameras for around $300. The seat was starting to get worn out too, with a tear on the right side where the seat meets the tank.

WOW, thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely look into it. What are the chances? I have the frame VIN, but does anyone know how to match the frame with the engine VIN? |

No, mine had an orange FRAM, and those plastics are a little beat up, and my tank cover was missing one of the tabs to hold on the cover. Mine was a different number too. But thats a pretty crazy coincidence huh? I let the police know too, so maybe they can do something too (thats a big maybe though). Thanks for your help though. Yeah, he states the VIN for the engine, but I am not sure how to make sense of it. He says he will be selling the frame too. When he does, i'll be able to tell for sure. It would be so sweet to catch the bastards who did this, but it looks like I might just be SOL. |

if you know the vin number of your bike the engine number should have part of the vin in it. |
