Might want to look for a new rotor while you have the wheel off. |

Phelan: For your information: one tooth less on the counter shaft sprocket is effectively the same a increasing the rear sprocket three teeth ... Do not know what teeth was on OEM counter shaft sprocket that came on your S2, but my 97 S3T came OEM with a 29 tooth counter shaft sprocket which means a 27 tooth would be the same as increasing the rear wheel sprocket 6 teeth ... And the OEM axle adjustment would handle the 27 tooth, allowing a correct belt adjustment ... |

Yes, but then I lose even more top end. My S2 has a 29t front sprocket. When funds allow, I plan to install a 30t front sprocket and 135 tooth Uly belt to allow correct adjustment, but right now I do not have the funds. |

The if the XB rear sprocket is a 65 tooth and the OEM TUBE FRAME is a 61 tooth, so you are geared down by 4 teeth, so a 30 tooth counter shaft will put you back basially to STOCK OEM GEARING ... ie: More teeth on rear sprocket lower gearing ... Less teeth on the counter shaft sprocket lower gearing ... Lower gearing instant TORQUE, low top end ... That is why BMC went to a 27 tooth as OEM gearing to get instant TORQUE on the TUBE FRAMES ... |

Yeah, I want to lower the RPMs on the higway. I also have an XB12 primary waiting to be installed for 11% reduction in RPMs per mph. |

You have to be careful on TALL GEARING as the closer to 1.1 gearing you get, one must have the HORSE POWER to run it ... |

Yeah, that doesn't worry me too much. I'll have my new top end done before I install the 30 tooth front sprocket, so until then I'll only be running about 200-300 rpms lower @ 60 mph. |

"...i'm just waiting for it to break." Not sure if that is a wise idea unless you consider getting stranded on the side of the road time well spent. But more importantly, you could loose the belt while being followed by an 18 wheeler truck at 70 mph on highway... You can guess the outcome... |

I lost my first belt on a wheelie in Oklahoma. Spent an extra 3 days in town for it . |

I would rather be buying a belt than a new front rotor! Mine is awful now....Decisions! |

Speaking of rotors Phelan, are you or were you metal to metal on that rear rotor? Or is it just the photo? |

It is, but I got a new one in my room and pads on the way. I just kept forgetting to order them. |

You can guess the outcome... won't mind if i'm on my way to work on a graveyard shift..... Just hope it doesn't happen when i'm cruising along at 100mph overtaking some cars on the wrong side of the road. |

I was considering a chain set up so i can change the gearing easier. But i like the light feel of the belt to be honest! |

euro gearing on my x1 was 29 counter shaft and 55 wheel pulley., i found it hard work in slow traffic, also read somewhere it gives rise to clutch problems. I since changed to a 61 rear, lost a bit of top end but much easier in traffic, still 80mph at around 3k rpm, plus a bit more torque , always a bonus. |

I like the belt too, but I may consider a chain later so I don't have to pull the isolator to change it! |
