I think there's a lot to admire him on how he built a chopper out of a Monster, frame included.
not my take, but I would reward him for his ideas....

BSA was a prime candidate because of unit engine (all in one) easy to chop as X engine.Takes a little Brains engine and trans separate to chop.

Wow, that wooden Honda has adjustable compression damping?!

As for the eBay ducati, what a ball-burner!
Need a Kevlar Cup for that.

I love the way these guys build their "ultimate" bike but then have to sell it to fund their new abortion that nobody will love either.

That style reminds me of the 1970's when guys started putting struts, extended forks and ape hangers on Kawasaki triples. Why oh why?????? The humanity of it all!

I guess what I like about some of these bikes is that the person had a vision of what they like, the balls to actually do it instead of just dreaming, and the determination and persistence to actually finish it. Demonstrates some level of passion about bikes, even if their taste is different.

If these butchers love the things so much, then why do they need to sell them so quickly after building them?

Answer is fairly straightforward.

For a good laugh, click the link.

http://www.custom-choppers-guide.com/buell-chopper s.html

It is almost as if the author has no idea about, well, anything at all.

"Buell's are known for their loud, throaty engines that create the kind of loud putting and rumbling sound (called torque) that is famous for waking the whole neighborhood up"

So horsepower is a loud rubbling sound that wakes up the neighbors over time?

i'll play devil's advocate: the ducati in the original post was built about 6 years ago, so i wouldn't say that it was just built then sold...

i have no idea how many of you who post here anymore have ever actually heard a ducati with open headers, but it's is one of the finest tunes ever engineered.

one more thing, it's not like a ducati monster is rare or anything, there are at least a dozen ducati monsters out there for every single tube-framed buell.

i am w/onespeedpaul for a couple things - at least ducati monsters are not rare, so when they're made to look like shite, it's not like they are trashing scarce objects.

and, as owner of a '78 duc darmah, i can attest to the beautiful sound these engines can make w/proper pipes. but open headers? yikes - way too loud for these ears.

"In essence, Buell's entire style philosophy is based on the idea that it is a shame to cover up raw metal with glossy plastic fairings. The company's raw aesthetic that appreciates the look of exposed Twin V engines is one that Buell shares with chopper enthusiasts. The other thing that also really draws chopper fanatics to the Buell choppers is the exploding, sputtering sound that they make on the road." From the Custom Chopper's Guide.

And all this time they've been spouting off about some "trilogy of tech". Glad I got enlightened by the chopper's guide. I know they're right because mine made that exploding, sputtering sound on the road once.
