That I love the way my bike sounds when open it up with the Force exhaust? It's just that it's SO loud and obnoxious... Like a hooligan bike should be IMHO.

I'm the same way with my D&D. Sure it sounds good at idle, but every time I get a chance, I give her WOT until about 6k RPM, then shift. That D&D has a great raspy decel sound between shifts too.

If it's wrong, I don't wanna be right!

"if it's wrong, I don't wanna be right!"

amen to that!

LOVE my Force! Neighbors hate it, but I love it. And yes, my X1 lives at higher revs because of it! : )

I really enjoyed my D&D slipon when I first got my bike. It was loud at WOT, but surprisingly quiet at idle. I don't know how the full system compares (D&D doesn't make one for the earlier tubers), but the Force is TWICE as loud as the D&D was, at least before the cap and packing blew out of the D&D (Ive never seen anyone else have that problem with a D&D BTW). the empty D&D megaphone on the stock header was louder than the Force, most likely because of the smaller inlet (stock header was 2") and no reverse cone.

we have a law in charleston that doesnt allow motorcycles to park in parking garages. Its a shame, i would love to set off hundreds of car alarms at once.

I did that at Eppley Airfield in Omaha once. A LOT more car alarms went off than I expected and I just snuck as quietly as possible away from the parking garage and airport. Never did go back to push my luck since there's always cops patrolling through the area.

One man's rights end where they infringe on another man's rights.

Loud pipes do sound good on a Buell. I love the Buell Race header and muffler on my S3.

However, I try as hard as I can to avoid making excessive noise where it will bother others or infringe on their right to enjoy their sleep or their tranquility.

If we act without consideration for others, we should not be surprised or angered if oppressive laws are passed to prevent and punish us for owning louder-than-stock bikes.

I love my Buell Race header and muffler and, if strong laws and enforcement are passed that take away my right to enjoy it responsibly, I will be pissed at those irresponsible riders that brought it on.

No one said they were abusing their pipes or intentionally doing things to impress and piss off others!

I bet that many have been pissed off by your pipes too...you've probably even set off a car alarm or 2...

And really..."Fags"? That term used in a rant post is about as redneck, close-minded and arrogant as it gets. I hate that the Buell community is using this term to identify themselves after the South Park episode. This is a community that I very proud to be a part of, and this term does not endear the community to me or others.

Andy,

You are right. I went over the top on that one.

My reference to "Fags" was based on the South Park episode about loud pipes. It was hilarious and it made a point that the general public might not love loud pipes as much as we do.

No negative inference regarding sexual preference was intended.

My Buell Race pipe and header on the S3 is not too loud at small throttle openings - but when I crack it open, it gets really loud. That limits the way I ride the S3 in town.

However, my M2 with a stock muffler can be ridden much more quickly in town without attracting the wrong kind of attention.

Too much of the wrong kind of attention could cost us all.

Dave

"Too much of the wrong kind of attention could cost us all."

Agreed!

I know the Southpark reference, and while it was hilarious...IMO it's only hilarious in a humorous context, not in a serious context such as this. ...if that makes sense. : p

I went over the top a bit too ; ) I modified my post.

I am a bit sensitive about the "cause and effect" regarding anti-motorcyclist legislation.

Reason is that I live in Florida where the public got fed up with stunters doing wheelies in traffic and scaring them. They complained to their legislators who responded with new laws.

Now, thanks to the stunters, a wheelie, even a very small wheelie, can cost a bundle. So can an "improperly displayed" license plate.

Penalties are as follows:

First Offense: $1,000.00
Second Offense: $2,500.00
Third Offense: $5,000.00 AND 5 years in jail

Now a rider, even with a spotless driving record, who is observed on a lonely country road going through the gears and hopping the front wheel in first and second, with a license plate dangling by one bolt so it is no longer horizontal, could be fines $5,000.00 and imprisoned for 5 years.

All this happened because some citizens called their legislators.

The episode of South Park is fantastic!!!!!!

I was closed to the edge to buy FORCE exhaust for my Buell, but here it's mean go out from the garage and go directly in prison because the police love so much to wait the HD engines with the phonometers in every corner.....so I was forced to change my V&H (that I love so much) for an italian exhaust that is not so loud....anyway the police yesterday bother me also for my rating plate: it was too lift.....

At WOT yes, at idle it is mellow...

I have/had a KT pipe on a motor putting down 95hp/91ft

and my neighbor didn't know I had a bike till he seen me washing it.

So it is possible to have a loud pipe and be responsible...

I would love to hear what my dream build would sound like: 90" XL motor on S&S cases, custom Delphi EFI, Feuling 4 valve heads with 13:1 CR, and a Force style custom exhaust. I can't wait to do a 1250 build on my S2 just so Incan hear the Gorce exhaust with higher compression. The S2 has 9:1 from the factory.

Right now I am running a BUB 2-2 exhaust. So loud I have to wear ear plugs when riding. Sounds awesome at al rpms but it is not worth hearing loss so I am switching to a full D&D set up.

Phelan, I was amazed at what a difference compression makes with regards to exhaust note. I was running a D&D slip-on on the 2000 X1 stock engine, then moved it to the 2002 with a 1250 10.5:1 kit. It made a world of difference!

Jeez I must be getting old,a couple weeks ago I swapped out my loud Wileyco on the X1 for a Pro Series Supertrapp with fresh packing and 16 disc and like the quieter tone.

I have a custom header with a Kerker muffler. Too loud for a longer ride even with earplugs. I am changing back to a stock system, at least for a trial.

I've had D&D, supertrapp, kooks, all on my tuber, if you want sound and can find one, KT exhaust is the way to go! Best exhaust for a tuber and louder than all tube frame exhausts!

Have you tried a Force? Like the KT, the Force has NOTHING for back pressure. Just and empty reverse cone megaphone.

Hi everybody! Hey Jramsey,
do you have a picture of your new Supertrapp? And what can you (or someone) tell me about the discs? I only know you can change the number of, you (or someone) can confirm (also in only 2 words...) me that the number of discs change the reactions of the bike?
I'm looking for an exh. for my S1 and I love the "old" Supertrapp "trumpet style".
The last thing: Supertrapp is louder than a V&H? Bacause if it's louder it's may be a problem...

This is my actual exh. (I don't love so much...it's like a drain pipe..)

Thanks, Luca
