I took the stem to the local HD shop to have them press the new bearings on the bottom. Thats the only required new part for the swap. I couldn't get the bearing races out, but mine were in good shape so I reused them. Someone maybe has a tip on getting them out. I know there is a tool for it, but I didn't have it when I did mine.
I used a rear tire stand and jack to lift the front. I used a long bolt/nut/washers to press on the top bearing. That was the hardest part. I had to test the handlebar position a few times as I swapped out to a lower rise Renthal. I also added the Tach kit at this time since it was all apart.
Buy the manual so you know the torque specs for the axle and stem bolts. I left the brake caliper on my wheel and just took it off as an assembly. Keep the master cylinder up high so you don't get air in the line, but you may want to re-bleed it to make sure you have a good brake feel.
Take a look at my profile pic to see how it looks. Shoot an email if you have questions when you tackle it.

Don't forget the fender and mounting hardware.

buying used is the cheapest !!
Ebay always has a couple a forks and fender on it.
Just be sure that they're in good shape !!
Or have a look on the Badwed classifieds, there sometimes guys parting out their Buells.

Can I ask the dumb question? What are the advantages to the swap? I understand that the forks are positioned opposite of each other (outer tube on top vs. bottom) but what is the result?

looks, mostly. The standard M2 forks work really well and offer no real disadvantage over the upside down version (to the regular rider that is). IMO
