has anybody got rid of the three piece rocker and gone to the late style sportster ones that breath through the same bolts but is two pieces??

You want to get the XB rocker cover set-up to get rid of the SPORTSTER side of the head(Carb. mounting)which is a better head breather set-up ...

buellistic , at the risk of sounding like a dick , i want the sportster set up i think its a cleaner set up , you still need the carb suppourt so your still using those bolts anyways now you have two more lines to route and make look neat , i love the force intake with the hard line plumb right back to the a/c . so has anyone done this.

I do not know of anyone who has done it because the consensus is that removing the crank-case breather from the intake is good on the dyno but as the heads are interchangeable I see no reason why the sportster rocker covers will not work. As for a clean neat look I have the XB covers on my M2. I use stainless cap screws for the breather mount and the lines for the crank-case breather is routed out of sight.

What Dave said, you really don't want that junk sucked back into your motor.
It really gunks up the intake tract.
Depending on how you route the breather lines on the top, you cannot see them.
Very clean. I've done it on both of our S2's and my M2.

What happens with this VALVE,umbrella PN 26856-89 is that it does not last very long
allowing the oil vapors to blown out and into the intake track if you have it still hooked to the intake ...

"AND" performance wise you do not want to pollute the intake charge, so these breather hoses should be run to a catch container

buellistic the late style two piece rockers use a different set up think more along the lines of the twin cam . these use part # 26010-04 which doesnt wear out as often as the umbrella valve

this is a little more entailed of a swap as you need to change the lower box also cause of different castings that hold the bolted in breather valve

I've been reading and contributing to the board since 2002 and I can't recall reading about anyone doing a swap that way (I haven't read everything here though). If the parts you intend to use are more robust than stock and will eliminate the goo from blowing back into the engine it would be interesting to see. I also believe the hardline breather routing on the Forcewinder is visually appealing.

I still get crud accumulating in a catch container I finally got, I thought the XB covers would eliminate that issue.

Are there dyno results with before and after on breather routing? I have no idea, people state they see improvement but I don't recall any power boost from rerouting my lines. Perhaps you are working towards less carbon print, if so I say go for it, I know I like my bike(s) for many reasons including the fuel economy and lower [environmental] impact.

Personally, I get just as much goo in my catch can with XB rocker covers as I did with the stock breather routing from the heads. BUT I upped compression to 10.5:1 at the same time that I changed the breather system so the two mods may have negated each other with regards to amount of goo.

Have a 108.822.1 miles as of the last ride and get VERY, VERY LITTLE comes out of my PRODUCE IMPROVED OEM rocker covers with BLAST PVC Valves(put them in before the XB's came out) ...
