Ok after a long wait the studs are done, Also the d&d header flange holes are up-sized.

I will have pics tomorrow of the finished heads before i install it all.

Just waiting on all the gaskets to show up. then i will install the new D&D exhaust system also.

We took the stud size from 7.5mm up to 10mm grade 8 studs and nuts

AArggg I broke a cylinder stud, It snapped like a twig! Then we got it out easily and on final assembly of the rear rocker box. A bolt snapped there too! It was only at 11 ft lbs of torque when it snapped. Max torque was 17 ft lbs. This bike i cursed.

I changed all the gaskets in the top end. Including the intake gaskets. I only have the exhaust system and the fuel cell left to install.

pics to come tomorrow after the final install is done.

I'd trade a used twice Snap-On TORQOMETER 175SFU for for a 7.5 MM oem exhaust stud.

No such thing!

Ok update

I have got the whole bike together and running again, I did have a little issue with the position of the rear o2 sensor bung. It was to close to the larger studs and nuts to get on a socket of any sort. I got it all tight with a little crescent wrench. The D&D system sounds awesome, I was reading somewhere here last night about the exhaust being quiet at idle........No way this system is so LOUD i could not believe sound level

The new D&D system was easy to install except the can, I had to pound a and exhaust cone into to it to open up the fitting a little.

I did notice a little white smoke when the bike is revved just at idle. But i think the rings are going to need to seat. The bike has been sitting for months and months so i am hoping the smoke will clear up once the bike is ridden again. This system is so LOUD!!! Wow it's loud but awesome!

At long last here are the pics....Sorry some are not so good.

First this is why i up-sized the studs, I kept breaking the studs of while riding?

I took the whole bike to my friends race shop to see if he could do the work on the bike with the heads on it.....He was uncomfortable doing it and he didn't want to tear the bike down. So i took the heads off and sent them down for the work (my friend works miracles on all kinds of bikes, atv's)
Well we decided on 10mm grade 8 studs and nuts since there was enough meat on the head in that area for enlargement.

Here is the front head.

Notice where i got my glove on the hot header (MFkr)

Here is the rear, Notice how close the o2 bung is to the exhaust stud nut......This was a real pita to tighten down. I ended up using a small crescent wrench and removing the battery to get enough room to actually get it tight.

These studs are HUGE and BEEFY!!
