Hi,
my name is Luca; I write from Italy and I am very happy to write here with you all.
First of all sorry for my english...

My first Buell was a XB9SX '06; now I have the Buell of my dreams: S1WL

I buy it from a friend that lives near me, so I Knew very well the bike and the owner before I buy it and I knew that the bike were in real good conditions (only 6200 miles).

The bike has a V&H exhaust, I like it, but my mechanic tell me about BUB BAD DOGS exhaust or T-Force. The first is difficult to find (here in Italy is impossible, all people knows only Screaming Eagle...some one Supertrapp...) the second I can find it here.

Well: do you know BUB and T-FORCE? Are they better than V&H? Better I only mean: more torque (I'm not interested in more speed...) and super sound.

Can you suggest me? Here I'm alone because nobody has a Buell S1WL...

If I'm able I upload my bike!

Thank you very much,

Luca

Bubs loses HP on the top end.

It's not the best if you are performance oriented.

I want my Buell very fast in 1-2-3 gears....faster than all other bikes....after this is not so important beacuse I like your types of competitions like quarter miles.......(but this only my strictly personal vision of Buell); 4-5 gears I ride like my granny.....very relaxed....

So you think BUB exahust may increase this tipe of performance? Or finally my V&H is quite good?

Hey Luca, my name is Edoardo, I'm Italian but I live in the States.
BUB won't be good for your needs since it's not street legal in Italy. same with the Force, even worse!
I have a Force on my S1WL, great pipe, monster torque and the best sound out there, but you won't go far with that exhaust in Italy.
you need to go towards a Vance&Hines, which is loud but not excessively.
you can also try to find the race 2.5" headers for better performance, but I warn you, they're like gold right now! almost impossible to find them.
I had a set of race headers and V&H, but I sold them a while ago since I'm riding with the Force right now...

That's neat!! I've never seen a bike "ollie" like that before!

Luca, maybe you want to steer towards the tune-able disk type pipes like the (White Brothers) E-series, Supertrapp, and factory race set up since torque is your goal?

Upgrade your front exhaust hanger if it's not been done yet to keep from breaking the front mounts off your new/expensive muffler

Thanks a lot guys!
So:

1) Ciao Edoardo nice to meet you (I'm from Belluno). I Know that Force sound excessive but on my old Buell (xb9sx) I had a Wileyco (very loud) and I had no problem...only a little bit of attention...I ride with a lot of bikers of north-est Italy, all xb Buell equipped, and all with loud exhaust...the real problem is the speed...more than the sound... I dont know the race 2.5" headers, i will go in google to find it.

2) Hi Littlb., my mechanic tell me about Whiteb. exhaust but he said is difficult to find...even in USA is difficult? I also think about Supertrapp, bcause I know that with a right number of disc you encrease the torque.

I'm sorry but I dont understand "front exhaust hanger" may be is "collettori" if Edoardo help me...

no, e` il supporto anteriore dello scarico.
ne hai 2, uno alla seconda curvatura dei collettori, quando diventano 2 in1, il secondo alla fine del terminale.
quello che devi cambiare e` il primo che si rompe facilmente...
sorry if we spoke italian, I was just helping him with the translation...

anyway, maybe you have no clue what's the sound of a Force!!!
there's no comparison with the Wileyco.
you wanna check first before you buy that exhaust. it is really too risky in Italy, and I know from my boys in Italy how expensive are the tickets and to get the registration back!!!

Well Edoardo, may be you know what you say...and so you say to me to leave the idea of T-Force... And what about Bub? You know it too?
If I exclude Force and Bub, two are the possibilities for me: I keep my V&H or I try Supertrapp.
I try to post the photos of the S1 but the response is always the same, even if I selected in the camera the lighter type of photos...do you think is possible if I send to you the photos you try to post it?
I would like to show to all bwb some things, like the air cleaner...and listen the opininos....
I want to say that anyway I don't want to make a mess of the S1WL (like I did with my xb9sx with a lot of (more of them useless) modifications), because I like the bike as it is, and it was very very difficult for me to find it "clean" and "pratically perfect".
I want only make the bike a little more "mine". I think I will change only the carburator Khein CV with a new Mikuni, may be I will change the air cleaner with a Forcewinder, or a Kuryakyn Hyper or a Muller and the front disc (but I replace it with an originale one).

Edoardo, looks like you explained the "Y" bracket then (Italian doesn't look the same as Spanish, but kinda)

here's a photo just in case there was any question on it

this is my S1 Luca...

as you can see, the Force is a straight free pipe, especially mine that is the Signature Series, which features a bigger megaphone!
remember that if you buy the Race headers, you will need to buy also a new V&H can with a 2.5" inlet.
nice and clean S1 by the way...

Hi! Italian job! Hi all bwb.

Sorry if I write only today after a lot of days but out of the weekend (so when I'm in office) I can't take time....

Well your bike is fantastic! Really!

My personal choice is to keep my S1 as you have said: nice and clean.

Yesterday I speak with my mechanic: well, he wrote an email to BUB FACTORY NEWYORK in order to ask if is still possible to have a BUB BAD DOGS EXHAUST for my s1 but he had no reponse from BUB. I have call to BUB by telephone but: try to imagine the quality of the conversation with my terrible english...at the end I have understand nothing and the guy of Bub I think too... :-)))))

So I think I will try again to call...but I think that is impossible that in all USA is impossible to find still 1 exhaust....

Your TFORCE is super! But if you say that is really too loud for Italy I don't think about it any more.

But I need to change even because my "collettori" (come cazzo si dice??) are railed (rigati..rovinati) and I don't want to have things railed on the bike.

I will change also the carbuarator with a new MIKUNI, and I like to put an "air cleaner" like the one you have but always the mechanic said that is not raccomanded this type of air cleaner if I don't do competitions (he said it will not really clean the air..) and tell me to put a Forcewinder... is true this story?

I'm pretty sure the S1W came with the 2.5" header.
The standard S1 did not.

Make sure when you get an exhaust that it is for an S1W, X1, or S3. They all had 2.5" header outlets.

Do the '99-later S3 and X1 exhausts come out at the same spot as the '98 S1W/S3 header? I would think that because of their different design features, they would not have interchanging slipons.

All 99+ model years run a 2.5" collector.

The Vance & Hines muffler I bought for my bike was spec'd for a 98 S1W and worked just fine (on my 2000 M2), so I believe the swap to any 99-02 muffler would also work.

Only difference in exhaust for the injected bikes (S3/X1) is that they have a O2 sensor bung.

"Do the '99-later S3 and X1 exhausts come out at the same spot as the '98 S1W/S3 header?"

No they do not. A 99 muffler can be fitted to a 98 header and vice versa but it doesn't line up right. You have to force it and you can see the misalignment when you look at it. All the muffler mfrs have a different muffler for a 98 versus a 99.

Luca, I have the force pipe on my S1 but I welded a drag pipe baffle to the inside of the Force baffle. If you were to wrap that in muffler packing material it would boost the bottom end pull and quiet things down where you may not get harrassed for loud exhaust. Just a thought. I have a Ceramic coated Force pipe and love it.

Well, I think if I will be able to find Bub Bad Dogs exhaust (I have open a post in the "market" section) I will place it on my bike even beacuse it's really nice to see. If it will be really too loud...well I will retraced my steps...

If I will not find this exhaust I will take the way of 2.5" header + a new V&H for 2.5".

Mikuni 42 is still ok and for the air cleaner...I'm thinking about it... between Forcewinder and Velocity Stack.

I will wait 'till September for the exhaust.

Then I will started works on bike.

Cordialmente, Luca

Cordially, Luca

Luca,

The bubs pipes arnt all that loud, deffinently louder than your vance and hines, but not bad. The bad thing is that they arnt made anymore, and finding a set that fits the 98 model is very very hard to do. They come up on ebay every couple of years for the 96-98 bikes. I had some on my bike, but sold them, i wasnt completely happy with them, but they looked great!

Hope that helps

Ciao Guell! Ciao all BWB!

I know it will not be easy to find Bub, but sometimes I think: "The U.S.A. are so big that I hope that someone remember that in a shady nook of a bike shop there is still a desolate Bub for a Buell that nobody want...

If I dont find it I hope it will be easier to find the header 2.5" (that I have still never see anyway...) and the V&H that fits it.

I'm just arrived at home, I take a little tour in my city by the bike, my father say me he was able to ear me 1 minutes before I arrived at home, but when I'm riding all HD that I find seems to me more but really more clumsy than me....

"But hey, it's a free country brother - let your freak flag fly." I FIND IT IN A POST OF BWB: FANTASTIC
