Pardon any noobness that comes across in this, I am new to these bikes, but nonetheless, hooked for life.

This 2000 x1 came to me as is, so I have no real knowledge of what the previous owner had done other than what I can see. It's running a V&H ssr2 into stock headers, race ecm, and whatever intake this is, looks like an Arlen Ness type setup with the round k&n, and the bolts plugged and tubed to the two catch can/breathers (one is missing.)

I absolutely love the bike, but it has had some trouble. I replaced the throttle body after the linkage snapped somehow, reset tps, replaced fuel filter, started running twin-syn, replaced voltage regulator. All in all, it has made a big difference, the bike goes harder and is way more consistent.

But, I still feel like it's not preforming at its full capacity, it doesn't seem to have the lowend torque and snap that everyone goes on about ... not being able to keep the front wheel down etc, and I don't believe it's me or how I run it. I know this could be due to the pullly but I will save that for another post.

Now, for my real question. I am not 100 percent sure, but I don't think the IAT sensor is set into the intake/filter that is on the bike. Like I said, I had nothing to do with this. So, could this be a culprit of the bike running like crap, and almost seeming like it chooses which day to be nice to me, and not?

Also, with this breather setup, could I lose this intake and do the Econo-winder, putting the iat sensor into the snorkle? (If I find a stock bread box)

Maybe it would help if you had a picture with the air filter and/or backing plate off?

Where is the IAT now?

Mpl, check that the IAT sensor is still working correctly, they can get wonky and still code.

also check the CHT if it skews it may not code either but it can play hell with things

if the sensor is near the air filter its likely good enough, I have had a force-winder on my X1 for a while and the IAT strapped up near the filter ( was under the outer sock ) its not that critical,

welcome to the addiction.
