Looks like I am BACK on a BUELL X1. I will know for sure later today. I was able to find a 02 X1 with less than 4,000 miles on it. It is LIKE NEW and has TONS of parts. I will keep everyone posted. Its been a while....about a year since I sold ALL 4 of my Buells. Matt (SOUTH GA.) |

Ugh, you have to wait a week to get it. This could very well be the longest week of your life. Welcome back by the way, although you've not been gone too long. Good for you. |

I tell you guys... its been a ROUGH year... When I sold the Buells...all 4 of them... I thought to myself that it was going to be no big deal. I was just finishing my Masters and had JUST entered the Doctorate program... all on top of planning a wedding for October of this year. But.. I can honestly say that going bikeless has SUCKED. This X1 will go NO where...ever... I have said that in the past and sold them but this time its the real deal. I can also say that I will NEVER have 4 again at one time either... it was just a OCD maintanance nightmare.... Once i get her picked up and my buddies trailer dropped off I will get some pics up... I cant get a tag for it till Monday anyways... but Insurance is good to go as of Saturday morning... Matt. |

Matt I didn't get your PM, unless of course it was that one that started out about meeting black singles in my area, I deleted that one. LOL I assume you're on your way to pick the bike up, can't wait to see the pics. There have been a few threads on tank decals. Are the '02s raised like the '99s? I can't remember, I think Court had a lead on some, there was a member once that painted them on. Well, Tenn. is up so I better give all my attention to the tele and yell as if they can hear me. Go Cats. |

Here is one of the other side of the engine... Needless to say... she was NOT washed much.... as you can tell she had an oil leak from the ORIGINAL airbox.... now after being cleaned up better all the residue is gone... She is coming around... but I have approximately 2 weeks left in polishing... cleaning and wiping down... Still have parts inbound as well... so... she will transform as a few days go by... and of course the Polishing started on the tail section as well... Matt... |

How long it take you to do the tail? What process did you use? If you had to do it again would you take the tail off or leave it on? Thinking about polishing mine... |

14d, Well... of and on during the week... I finished yesterday evening... Total time... I would say about 8 hours. ALL was done by hand. I started at 320 grit to 2000 grit. I started using water at 600 to 2000 Final sanding at 1000 and 2000 was done dry then wet and then with mothers polish on the sand paper. I would just leave the tail on to do it... thats what I did. If you had the room and tools... like a highspeed sander.... polishing wheel... You could probably have it done in a couple of hours. I will tell you this... I have done it 4 times now... and after EACH one I tell myself that I will NEVER do it again. Its TOUGH work... and you get VERY sore from doing it... BUT the results are worth it in the end. Matt. |
