I stripped the X1 completely down this winter and just got some pics from the powder coat shop. I'm going to pick parts up this weekend and start putting everything back together. The pictures aren't very hi-res, I should have more to come soon of the build.

Looks good. What color is that? What are your plans for the color of the plastic?

It's actually a little darker of an orange than the pictures show, with some metal flake in it. The tail section is black as well as the swing arm. I bought a second set of plastics off of fleabay that I'm going to have painted black with an orange stripe, like the racing stripe editions. I bought an extra set of plastics rather than painting up the millennium ones.

Sounds nice. I have a "test mule" set of skins if you are interested. I used them to test out a color and glad I did, after I saw what I thought I wanted on my bike I didn't like it...

That is going to be HOT! Those racing stripe editions look sharp, I think the black and metal flake orange are great choices in color.
Can't wait to see the complete bike!

I had the mounting block between the swing arm and the motor powder coated as well. Does the mounting surface that connects to the the back of the motor need to be bare to create a ground? I know the threaded rod and the are for the ground strap will need to be but I'm not sure about the surface that mounts to the motor? It wasn't masked off so the entire part is coated.

Not only does the area where the motor bolts to need to be bare for ground transfer, but also where the ground strap bolts to the block.
Do it carefully!

I knew the bolt where the ground strap contacts the part needs to be bare, and the area around it, but I wasn't sure about the other surface. Now to the task of removing powder coat, hopefully i can do it without messing up the rest of the mounting block.

I used to powder coat for a living. A small 90 degree die grinder should have no problem taking it off. That powder coat is tougher than most people give it credit for. We'd beat and bang on it with a hammer and never leave a mark, well, usually not leave a mark.
