I saw discussion on a 250 rear tired Buell in one of the sections of this site but can't find it now. Does anyone know of a conversion kit to take a '96 S-1 to a 250 rear tire or have pictures of how someone did it themselves? I have a machine shop but have some questions if I am going to attempt this.

Db . . .. don't do it!

I have it on good authority that a rear tire that large will turn your scoot into a schoolbus

Bomber,

I hear you. Not looking for performance, looking for the look if you know what I mean.

Does anyone have pictures or info on a 250 tire?

There have been some posted on the site here before. A lot of the folks on the site here are more concerned with cornering performance and functional road use viability than with looks, so you can expect to receive a few comments.

Are you building up a show or drag-race bike? Or a bar hopper? Or something else? Or none of my dang business? ; )

Rummage around in the older pic archives and the tire and bodywork section archives as well.

No problem, Buells are all about cornering and performance so I understand the passing concerns.

Doing it because it appears to be a challenge and I will show it off. Made a set of highway pegs utilizing a front engine case bolt as the anchor and made some 3 D larger than life lightening bolts on the rear set irons. Both turned out excellent and got rave reviews. Looking for the next project and a 250 tire keeps sticking in my head. I would retain the stock swingarm, wheels etc. for future if the need came to reverse it all.

Db

A buddy ran a 2-someting a couple of summers ago for a short while . . .. . .barely fit the stock swingarm, obviously . . .. . I doubt if there's a kit for this, but, if memory serves, your swingarm is steel . . . .pick up another one on ebay and saw/weld/file away!

I'd love to see the final product

The Avon bike you are referring to was featured in HOT ROD BIKES magazine about 4 yrs ago. It was built by Tommy Todd of GT Customs in Maryland NY. Bads1 is right, Dyna, that is a model of it. If I remember right it was an S1 with one of the early 250 series rear tires. Tommy said it handled like crap. AL

Highway Pegs on an S1,

250 Rear Tire, next will be ape hangers, leather tassles from the grips, etc, etc, etc

I shudder to think of these things to such a sexy machine.

I know - NONE OF MY BUSINESS
