hello. So I am looking to buy a 1250 kit and do some headwork and possibly a cam. I have a forcewinder intake and supertrapp can....does the stock header have horrible flow characteristics? as everyone knows, its not easy to track down exhausts for these things. Im not sure if I want a brand new D&D.

If you can find a BUELL Factory Racing header and Muffler Can, that would be your best bet ...

BUELL Factory Racing header and Muffler Can.
Very rare. When one does pop up, they bring big $$$.
I've been wanting one of these for some time now. They just aren't many of them out there any more.
Who is this JT&S you speak of Firstbuell?
More info please.

"who is this JT&S"

My bike is kind of a double edge sword, Built by DAN at NRHS and mapped and dyno tuned by TERRY at JT&S. (Both of them are competitors at the annual BUBS land speed racing here in Utah)
They are a sponsor here http://www.jtsperformance.com/

I would definitely do cams and get the stock valves outta there. shrink em down to 7mm stainles and get some XB single beehive springs, Your top end will spin up quicker.

with this set up i was able to get 114 rwhp and 92 torque. I could only get a good dyno run in 4th gear as the motor made to much power and slipped the cluth in 5th and that is why the dyno picture shows 112 rwhp and 91 torque.

waiting for my turn on the dyno!

This bike makes super top end power due to the SE.536 cams i got in it.

Just bought a race header and muffler off of badweb for 300 cannot wait to put it on. Now I just need a race map and I will be set.

eBay race mufflers bring about $500, and the header about the same. I've seen a new race muffler go for over $550 not too long ago.

What kind of performance does the race combo add?

Hi I got both the stock x1 header with V&H muff and "race" kit header and muff. I have found NO real seat of the pants diffrence switching from either these setups. imo the factory x1 pipe is a good part.

The race combos (both the full pipe and bolt on muffler-only kits) take the hole out of the midrange. The pipe and can systems give you a bit more top end along with that, but it's nothing to write home about if your engine is in stock trim. You start putting in longer duration cams and higher flowing heads, then the race pipe will start to shine over the stock pipe.

Length, the "race kit" pipes are a few inches longer for better torque. I have wondered about putting a few inch long divider of sorts into the stock setup collector to mimic longer primary tubes to see if it would make any diffrence with more torque.

If you've already got a SuperTrapp, I would suggest use that for a while, there's no other exhaust that's going to add significantly to what can be attained by the Supertrapp (with enough DISCS !)

But I do also have an X1 Buell factory race header I bought for my M2,off a liar on eBay who said it was perfect. But it was in a crash, has a noticeable scuff on the curve, and a tiny, weldable, tear near the rear mounting place. I would sell it for way less than I paid for it, PM me if you are interested and want to see close-up pictures. I since found a Race Header for an M2 (no bung) so I don't need the X1 header at all.
