How much are the carbon fiber extreme bikes worth? They are hard to find any info on these bikes.

It's one of those things where they cost extra when new, look badass, are rare but yet seem to cost the same as normal X1 bikes.

Mine is a normal 2000 X1. That same year, they had limited edition millennium racing stripe bikes too. More money, seemingly the same resale value : )

If it has VIN matched PM wheels, it's apparently worth anywhere from $8500-10500...

If it does have PM wheels, which part of VIN shows it is correct? Also, are there any #'s of those built?

LOL, there is one built with PM wheels supposedly. It's worth about $4,000-$4,500

Unfortunately they're not worth any more than a regular X1. BUT, if you'd like to pay more I'd gladly sell you mine: ) God forbid you ever need to replace some of it, it is high dollar stuff to replace. Then on the other hand it is the fastest color.

I've got a good idea of the one Brin is thinking of and it pops up OFTEN but never sells.

But that one that pops up here for sale but never sells, is it worth more than the others or is it only worth that much to just the right person?

It only pops up on eBay...Be crucified for posting it here for those prices...But hey, if you think it's worth it. Go for it.

But there hasn't been any special edition Buell's other than the Ghost Rider ones sell for more than a regular stock Buell in good shape.

We have all come to terms with that, hell, I've seen souped up Tubers with thousands of dollars in work go for the same price as stock tubers in pristine shape...

It popped up here once and like Brinnutz said the seller is probably still a little crisp around the edges. It got posted everytime it hit e-bay and now it's not even fun to do that. I kept mine stock (ish) for a long time hoping that stock would make it worth more but during and after the engine rebuild I just said heck with it. I've cut up more stuff than Freddie Krueger. First major cut was the cam cover, it was hard, but now I don't flinch at all when cutting into something.

Hey guys,

How can I identify a Special Edition Carbon/Kevlar model from the VIN?

Thanks
Peter

Good question, I've got one but couldn't tell you where in the VIN the info is. It should have, (or came with anyway) a gas cap that has Carbon Fiber Extreme ed. #XXX of 250 engraved in it. It also came with a CF windscreen with a pegasus weaved into it. They had Nuclear Blue frames and were the fastest X1s produced: )

Oh, and unfortunately they aren't worth a dime more than an ordinary X1. Ordinary being a relative term here.

Send your VIN to a dealer and have them run it on H-Dnet.com. It will show original configuration - color/body/wheel options.

I got a gas cap off one from ebay but its a 2000 and my X1 is an 2001. I may still use it but the key is in terrible shape. I dont dare put it back in the lock it may break.

I bought my CFE (#173) new in July 1999. It has less than 7k miles. It is bone stock except for the Corbin seat (still have the OEM seat). The bike has absolutely no scratches or blemishes of any kind. It has always been garaged unless it was moving. CFEs were notorious for the blue carbon fiber thread fading from exposure to the sun. I had to replace the voltage regulator and rear caliper piston. Otherwise, it’s been trouble free. It may not be worth anymore than a plain Jane 1999 X1, but, it sure is sexy. Anything that sexy just has to be fast!

I've always wanted one of these. Certainly the lower numbered ones would be worth more, but I don't really know what they are worth. Would any of you be bold enough to state a price range for a CK version in decent condition?

Whatever you're willing to pay is what it's worth these days.

I say $4,000-$4,500 in pristine condition low miles and extras included.

There's a couple actually.
One of them is a full restoration project.
I was kinda interested but I might hold out for a stock one.

The CFE carbon fiber parts were made by Hans Debo (Debotech) located a few minutes from me in Mooresville, NC. I have been to his shop numerous times buying CF parts for my '01 ZX-12R. Once when I was there I saw a CF fly screen in a display case that looked just like my CFE fly screen (included the Pegasus) except the blue thread was replaced with a red thread. Hans, IMHO, makes the best CF available. I feel certain he could still make CFE parts needed for restoration. I tried to sell my CFE several years ago and didn’t get much interest. It gets ridden about 5 to 10 miles a month just to keep things from going bad. My daily commute is made on a ’02 GL1800 and my weekend bike is the 12R. Here’s a link to some of my CFE pics.

I guess that this is just living proof of the answer to the age-old question of "What's it worth?" That answer being: "Only what someone is willing to pay for it."

I wonder if they will ever be considered classic collectible bikes? I definitely want to buy one some day.
