As some of you may know, I purchased a 98 S3T a year or so ago. I stripped it down to the frame in hopes of a rebuild to a modified S1. I have purchased and replaced several items already such as the forks and triple tree's(replaced with 03 xb9) and my most recent purchase a complete S1 rear frame section and tail piece.

Well I have had some major life changes in last few months and have decided that this is one project that I must let go of.

My question is this?

Do I sell everything as parts or do I sell it as a whole "Box o Buell"?

Parting it out will get you the most money but will also take the most time.

As I'm sure you're well aware of looking in the classifieds slick Buells with low mileage and low prices are not selling very well at this time.

Whats the asking price on the "Box o Buell"?

With everything as it sits and I can get into the details more specifically via email or phone, I am thinking

$1800

This gives you everything you need to put the bike back together either as an S1 or and S3, but I have long sold the seats and Hard bags.
The engine is complete with the top end off for some work I had done to the front head. PO sheared a bolt off in the head and I took care of that.

All in all the bike is ready to assemble, the frame was being prepped to go to powder coat and then I was going to start putting her back together. The only thing I still needed to replace was the rear shock as I wanted something that could handle my weight (278lbs) and a street fighter headlight assembly (cityx version)as opposed to the S3T fairing and light assembly.

Guell,
I am heavily leaning towards parting the bike out, as I have a few months to dedicate to that, but if I get an offer for the whole bike I most likely will take it.

It is such a shame.... I really had PLANS for this bike. It was going to be the American version of Jodie's Buell. Sometimes in life, we can't change the what befalls us. Anyway... I still have my CR and I will be riding a Buell so I can't complain.

Guell, I will keep you posted.

What color are your plastics for the S3? I like thunderbolts, and might be interested if you're around here.

I wished you lived closer, I would take the motor off you hands. Sorry about your situation, that sucks.

You have a carbed 101 HP Buell motor. That alone tends to be more than $1500 on ebay and probably closer to the $1800 you're thinking for everything. Selling it as a set is cool, but don't kill yourself in the process.
I'm in a similar situation, but have been too busy getting other things in order before moving to the garage so I haven't given it much thought yet. I'd love to keep it but that might be unrealistic. Secondly I'd like to see it go as a set as I'm sure you would but the ding you take is pretty high. I'm hoping that parting it out helps a number of users keep there's going even if 1 bike is lost in the process.
What I've got is basically S3 parts I've gathered when I thought I saw a decent deal. I spent this morning tracking down everything I spent in 2009, where most of it came from. I'm willing to share the parts and costs with you if you think it will help see what you'd get for everything. Off the top of my head, $3000 may be very doable.

Old_mil,
The skins are the Silver color and I live in Texas (DFW)

Thanks for the thoughts Frank...

Interesting prop, I know what I would need to put is back to stock...hmmm

The part out sounds like a better deal.

Here is what she used to look like when I first picked her up

Gorgeous bike. I didn't notice that is was a T in my earlier speculation. Didn't include a Corbin seat either...

Yup, I have sold both the bags and the seat already...

mater of fact I have already cut the rear passenger pegs and tubes off the frame and started to shave them in as prep for powdercoat.

I was bent on getting this to an S1/XB monster...

May I ask a dumb question? Why get a perfectly nice S3T and "ruin" it? Why not get a nice S1 and make that nicer instead?
Not that an S1 is hard to find or is a lot more money.
Sorry just wondering...
