I made some mixture adjustments a few months ago actually about 2.5 turns from lightly seated.I noticed my enrichener RPM is about 2600 RPM at normal temp when it should be 2000 according to the SM.I cannot remember what the factory idle mixture setting was "how many turns out",will the idle mixture adjustment cause the enricher to run at a higher RPM than usual?

ok,I just tried the idle mixture at 1.5 turns out from seated and it has no affect on the enrichment RPM,so I must have a vacuum leak at the intake or the carb boot, any suggestions?

Just a thought but have you checked the free play in the throttle cable?

When I drilled the plug on my CV-40 I was screwing in the idle to see where the factory had set the idle at before I backed it out 2.5 turns. To my surprise it was already in all the way.

Since I don't have a tach I have no friggin idea what I idle at but don't you have that external throttle stop adjustment you can vary your idle rpm with?

Yes,I have a idle adjuster which is set at 1000 rpm, the choke or "enrichener" is my concern. With the choke pulled out all the way it should run at 2000 rpm which it did at one time but it now runs at 2600 rpm,I don't think there is a adjustment for the choke rpm if it's like most carbs with the plunger type setup.I'm thinking I have a vacuum leak which I'll check for this week

With a properly tuned carb you should only need full choke for a second or two. Letting it idle at over 2,000rpm will result in fouled plugs.

I start mine full out and immediately put it to about 1/3 or 1/2. After a minute I can put it almost all the way in. Off choke after about 3 minutes max.

The choke was needed more when running very lean from the factory.
