I bought my first tuber today. It is a 98 S3 with 14,800 miles. The rest of the bike is pretty clean. It has a carbon fiber Vance & Hines muffler that has rust on the bracketry. The mount on the front cylinder head is broke and has been parked because of it for the past two years. So what it really needs at this point is a head, battery and a bath, but not bad for $800.00. When I fist looked at it I thought that it had damaged the jug but it seems to be fine upon further inspection. I will post some pics after the camera is charged.I have owned a XB9SX and currently own a XB12R but today I am very excited since the tubers are what started my infatuation with Buell in the first place. $800!!! You lucky bastid! Remember once you do get it all operational, do NOT trust those tires. They may look good but I'll bet that they are woody and will drop you on your buttocks. | ||

great deal. the tuber will do for you that the other's won't imo. still love gettin on mine and i swap rides every day going to work so i can tell the difference between them all. | ||

Post pics of the head - I just had a bolt broken off in it for the head mount and we were able to back it out and save the head and not even take it off the bike. | ||

Here is a pic of the head. I think it would be easier to replace the head because I think there is too much material strength comprised by the chunk that broke off. I may be wrong but the weld would have to be absolutely perfect to get enough penetration to regain the original strength not to mention any alignment issues. Over all I am very happy. It needs to be cleaned up and lubed all over but that is about it.  | ||

Yeah, I didn't realize the actual head material was broken. Easier to just replace - and Court is right, for the price of a head, it's cheap compared to what it would take to repair that. | ||

Sounds good, I hit 315 on a regular basis (one of my favorite roads) and a few others around Jacksonville & Rusk. If for some reason I don't have it on the road by that time I can get the 12R out of the moth balls. Let me know when you are back in town, Bart | ||

I had NRHS send my STD head out for repair (similar problem, half the casting arount the threads was gone) and it was only $75 to have it repaired... | ||
