I'm changing the rear Rocker box gaskets on my 1999 M2. I have been thru 20 threads about changing rocker box gaskets and nowhere did I see a mention of "lower the freaking motor to get the rocker cover off".

However I have been standing here looking at this lose cover for 40 minutes trying to figure a way to get it clear of the frame "without" dropping the motor.

Do I gotta drop dah motor? ARRRRGH

Think "rubik's cube".

I just went thru the same thing with my S2. Right rear corner is the issue, yes? Fiddle, swear, pull, scratch some stuff, have a beverage, fiddle some more...it'll come off. You do have the fuel tank off, yes?

Hell, the stockers are EASY with the flat top and the middle ring. Try monkeying an XB rockerbox on there! They're a flattop plus middle ring, all in one piece.

Should be in three pieces, you have a top section, a middle section, and the bottom. If you are trying to take it off as a single unit it may be a bit difficult.

No problem Joe. Just realized you are up the freeway. Try and get down for a ride one of these days or meet us at Palomar Mt.

or there is SCAB which focuses more on north San Diego and up your way.

I'll do that Blackm2.........I have been all over the SW and NW but never San Diego County. Some times it's easier to head off for week on the road than to sneak off for a Saturday morning Bonzai.

I still haven't sold my BMW so I have the new XB12R in hiding. It's never a good thing to let the wife see too many New motorcycles in the garage when I been tell'n her I'm too broke for that flat screen she wants

Sold the M2 to the son and now I'm doing all the maintenance on it so he will have a good solid ride. Replaced the brake pads, spooned on two new tires and now the leaky Rocker box gaskets. If I could keep him from blipp'n the freaking throttle I wouldn't have to repack the baflle LOL.

I'll be down there in SD on a ride pretty soon

Thanks again for bail'n me out on that 2 piece rocker box I was try'n to slide outta the frame
