So why would an M2 have the mounting points for a dual rotor set-up and holes in the wheel and yet lack the rotor, caliper, and plumbing to have a dual rotor set-up?

Dunno, but don't bother. The added poundage to the unsprung weight will do more harm than good, the stock 6-piston brake will be more than adequate.

Factory castings from Showa, they don't just build suspension for Buell. Cheaper manufacturing to just use standard casting than make a right/left specific fork leg.

Some folks have machined/ground/filed them off. I plan to someday.

I sure don't like big, ugly, empty brackets.

I put them to good use in Pennsylvania. Mounted an inspection plate.
