Hey, so lately I have been having a decent amount of black soot coming out of the exhaust, like oil is getting into the fuel mix or something. Any ideas? My oil level is fine, and it hasn't been leaking any fluids. 2000 X1

Air filter dirty? When's the last time you changed plugs?

Yeah, it runs pretty good, its getting below 50's so cold startup is a little rough, but not a problem yet. No misfires or backfires either.

Run it in the dark sometime and cover your headlight. Look for sparks from your wires. You may be shorting one out occasionally if your wires are old.

Do you actually see soot coming out or do you just notice it collecting inside the exhaust.

I say just ride it and keep checking your oil.

If it keeps bugging you can do a leakdown and compression test. This will tell you if you need new rings.
