I am a firm beliver in you "get what you pay for" however with the availability of Tuber aftermarket being limited. Im rebuilding one of my X1's this winter and considering going with CF body work. MDI and EastCarbon seem to be the big distributors on EBAY with a full line of parts. IF i go this route I want to get everything from the same vendor so the weave matches. Just wondering if anyone has any impressions and or reviews on their products.

THanks in advance

PM Preybird1 on that, he's had good and bad but can give you details.

I bought several Buell accessory parts (front fender and lower belt guard) and they have aged poorly., first discoloring then the top coat has just disintegrated. I had a Buell CF flyscreen and it did the same. Not top quality parts there.

If I could afford it I'd like to try American Sport Bike's parts, they're supposed to be top shelf.

American Sport Bike has the best real CF around. I got some CF from china that was good but not real. I was going to buy from mdi until they screwed up my order and sent it to someone else! Then they wanted to keep my money for 3 weeks for the new shipment to come in. I have there CF dash cover it looks really good. Keep in mind you can tell the difference in the weave size and weight.

i have the eastcarbon tank accents and they are ok so far. had to drill the mounting holes but it was pretty easy. would rather go with asb but didn't have the money.

As the owner of one of the CF Extremes I'd suggest you go with American Sport Bike. There have been numerous posts to Badweb about faulty foreign CF and usually they end up going to Al, so if you can you might as well start out there in the first place. In my latest order I received their derby cover and timing cover and both bolted up without a hitch. I also have their under seat eliminator from years back and it still looks great. I won't buy my CF from anyone else. Just my .02.

a couple years ago I picked up a windscreen, front fender, and tank cover for my X1 from one of the ebay CF hawkers.

My findings: They're not *really* CF. The ones I had were actually a fiberglass base with one layer of CF on top. The windscreen had a run in the CF layer that made it look like crap, but otherwise at least it fit. The fender they sent me didn't even fit the bike, it seemed to be from a cyclone but otherwise looks okay. The tank cover was the most ill-fitting piece of junk i've ever seen. To make the form it appears that they just used a standard tank cover as the mold, so their final product was just a little bit too big across the board. Nothing lined up right, and there were numerous runs in the CF layer, again making it look like crap.

Seller wouldnt respond to any emails, and left me retaliatory feedback once I opened a ticket against them with ebay/paypal. I got a small portion of my money refunded, but ultimately was out quite a few bucks. I've still got the tank cover and I'll let it go *cheap* if you want to get a taste of this quality...

I'm totally convinced they're all the same operation, and they only stay live long enough to collect a bunch of cash from unsuspecting fools, then they shut down and start again under a new identity.

Spend a bit more and get your stuff from American Sport Bike. You'll be WAY happier in the end.

YMMV.

Does it fit an X-1 or an M-2?

I suggest you clear coat it now with something UV resistant if you really like the cf look Russ, I've not had one Buell CF part that hasn't gone to ugly within a few years. Maybe our altitude causes more UV exposure or something?

I'm considering blacking out my cf bits as they look pretty bad to me, but still seem solid enough.
