Does anyone else's x1 have problems starting after sitting for a few days or when its gets cold out? With the weather getting cooler I haven't been on the bike much, but we are still getting some nice weekends here and there. But I'm having a hard time getting my 2002 X1W to start when it's sat for a few days (or longer) with out being started. Once I get it started and it warms up it seems to run fine. The engine is getting a spark and gas, it fires, but dies out shortly after. I've checked the plugs, battery is new this season and has a good charge. Fuel has had stabilizer/injector cleaner added so it should be good. Do any of you guys have similar problems, Is the bike just not like the cold or should I be looking into something else? | ||

i think they're all a little cold natured. I've always had to manually add throttle to keep it running at 1500 rpm or so for a few seconds. it's always idled on its own pretty quickly though, even in temps down into the 20s Changing to a lighter oil will help some. the service manual has a list of recommended oil weights for certain temp ranges. IIRC it's 10w40 for anything under 40*F | ||

That appears to be a normal behavior of the Buell DDFI system. If it really bothers you, get a tool like ECMSPY (or others) to access the ECM and play with the cold start enrichment in conjunction with the fuel map cells in the idle area. You will eventually getting nailed for your bike and your area. Or just do what PK does. | ||

It gets really cold here as well and i have to give it a little twist of the throttle to keep mine running. That sounds normal for the FI. |
