I have a tapping noise while riding after the bike is warm almost sounds like lifter noise,Is this normal for Buells.I have always rode liquid cooled bikes & I know the water jackets insulate alot of valvtrain/engine noise, the only air cooled 4 stroke I've owned was years ago which was a GS500 and if I can recall it was noisy from day one off the showroom floor but it had adjustable valves. While I got it on my mind the bike has a fuel odor coming from the airbox area "only when warm" and every time I ride it ,I checked for leaks as well as the bowl drain overflow hose, all good with no sign of gas.

Ive been told a buell motor is supposed to sound like a dryer full of bolts. Mine makes noise, ive taught myself to mostly ignore it unless its something way out of the ordinary.

I get that fuel smell on my m2 also, unless i turn the petcock off.

They do indeed make noise after they warm up. Unless it gets louder or changes tone, consider it normal. Or, you can put on a loud slip-on and you won't hear it...

I've been looking at some slip-on exhaust, trouble deciding, may go with the V&H,first I've gotta deal with the low speed issues.Have not pulled the carb yet.I ordered a 45 slow jet, a intake seal kit and some more stuff today from one of the Sponsors, figured when I take the carb off I'd replace the boot and the 2 other seals, maybe next week I can figure it out using the prior thread advice

Oh,I did have a chance to open the bike up on some back roads, the torque is pretty surprising, more power than I expected especially midrange and handles great, actually better than some of the sportbikes I've owned, just don't Armor All the seat "lol"
