"nothing against the forcewinder, but every buell along with alot of harley have them, i like to be different."

I thought about that when I bought it, I simply did not find another that had the look I wanted- I've been stripping every non-essential piece off of my bike, and most others would look "bloated" with no other plastics...

I like the look of the FW, so I'm happy. : )

I'm with ya Andy. I think the Airtech covers up too much. I don't like it.

If there was something similar to the Forcewinder, I'd get it....OH wait, I have it..

THE RACEWINDER

lol. The RaceWinder is cool...but again for my bike I think it's too bulky. The FW seems just right to me- mechanical, minimal aggressive looking.

I traded my CF hamcan for a forcewinder recently. I like the way the force looks, but I like the clearance it gives my knee even more.

"LimitedX1, How's the Airtech do in rain?"

Who rides in the rain? lol jk, if you really wanted to ya just need a piece of tape over the front hole, there is a gap between the cover and the backing plate. so sealing off the hole would not seal off air.

Hey Dread, I was thinking of going with one of them S&S setups. You said you had to modify it as to not hit your leg? Did it stick out or back too far?

Most air cleaners come back too far and hit your knee. You need a spacer for most air cleaners to clear the frame. American Sport Bike has them. I filled the old holes (JB Weld) and divits to keep things smooth inside and drilled new ones for the mounting holes and carb vent. I used the spacer as a template to match the holes. This setup is really for the 1340cc motors so the backing plate holes were wrong so I did it for two reasons. I got a steal, $75.00 on Ebay in winter. The desperado was new and I have never seen one on a bike, (Vent holes on the front for more breathing). EVERYONE seems to have the Forcewinder. They are the setup to have they say but that is why I do not have one, because everyone has one. I am just hoping goatees and beards do not come back strong or I will have to shave mine off..LOL. I do not race often so 1 or 2 HP for a different setup is not going to matter. I have whooped all Harleys that have challenged me, even the XR1200 and I am to old and smart to try to race a JAP bike, not in the same league. My fiends both have Ducati Monster 750's, I get them off the line but they just wind past me in the upper RPM. I just enjoy riding and having something different. That is why I do not have a JAP bike or a Harley standard. You can only change them so much unless you get into big bucks custom. Just my 2 cents. That is why they make chocolate and vanilla and sprinkles. Everyone likes something different.

but they just wind past me in the upper RPM.

Are yo sure they are 750's?

My old kawi GPz550 was a match for my brothers M750 at the dragstrip, my S3 would have spanked it - they only run mid 12's.
He upped it to 900cc and my S3 did spank it - high 11's to low 12's for him, mid to high 11's for me.
He stretched it and went to big valve heads and is now 3-5 tenths quicker - low 11's for him, mid to high 11's for me
...

I do like your air cleaner!
I have the CF ham can and would like to change to something else, but am not willing to give up any HP...

IMHO: if you set up the ERGONOMICS Properly

your knee would not hit the air box ...

"i" am 6'3" and no problem ...

I guess in the quarter that might be true Scott but try riding a country road with twisties and having upsidedown forks, and Buell stock brakes or on the open road past a quarter. I would not trade my bike for thiers EVER, they just are different, BUT our basic group consists of my Buell M2, two Ducati M750s, a 97 & 2000 and a 77 Harley ironhead mint. Even in low RPM's we sound wicked coming and people have to see because we are different and diverse. Low rumble of the Duc's, the potato from my exhaust and the crack of the Ironheads straights. No-one ever crowds around the JAP bike guys and has to have a look. They look mostly the same. If I was worried about the HP diff I would lose 30 lbs. LOL.Have a good day.
