i took my tank off recently and found a vac line, i figured it was the vac line that went to the tank vent, so i put it on the tank vent.

since ive done this ive had an issue with the engine stumbling while at cruise and eventually dieng...

the remedy to the problem is to disconnect the line. runs fine

odd?

Check to see if the vent hose is pinched. Sounds silly but I have done this many times when putting on tank bags and the tank cover or tank bar, whatever it is called.

That open vacuum line that you found ... did you trace it to find what the other end was hooked to?

On a CA bike, there is a good chance that the line used to be connected to the carbon canister. The other end is on a nipple on the bottom of the throttle body. This line should be plugged if it's hooked to the nipple on the bottom of the TB, not connected to the gas tank vent.

If it runs to the carb, plug it. The bike had a carbon canister on there at one time and somebody took it off.

kilroys and 5liter are on the right track

that line should vent to outside air, 100% unplugged.

the hose connection on your carb needs to be plugged with a small rubber hose plug (can be had at most auto part stores for less than a buck).

If it is a skinny little line, it is the bowl vent...do not plug it or connect it to anything.

I know what you're thinking and no, a magnet won't pull it out. Sorry. They're aluminum.

Oh, wait a minute. My new ones are aluminum maybe the old ones are metal. Seems I remember referring to them as flimsy pot metal. I guess a magnet is worth a try.
