took it for a spin around town and it smokes horrible... im assuming its from the wrap? smells like a BBQ grill when you light it up and it cooks all the stuff off the grill...

this is normal right?

yep that's normal. mine lasted for quite a while but eventually the smell goes away.

you might try some sealing paint designed for header wrap too.. that will make it last longer and insulate better.

Yeah, I put some header wrap on about 2 weeks ago and it smoked and stunk for several days. Then I put some silicone spray (similar to the DEI product) on there and it stunk for several more days.

No big deal.

I hope you wore long sleeves and gloves while installing it. Because I didn't. And I itched for days (despite my attempts to pull the fiber off my skin with duct tape).

Either way.....header wrap looks awesome.

I've got a Forcewinder like yours also. So...nice setup.

looks good. I put it on my bike the beginning of the year along with the silicone spray. I baked my on the BBQ grill for a while before installing the header back on the bike. Mine smoked for a few days as well. Love the look though

The trick for less fibers in the skin is to wet the wrap before installation. I feed mine out of a bucket.

...now I know.

I did spray mine lightly with a squirt bottle but still lots of fiber.

If I ever wrap headers again, the process will go much more smoothly.

I did the same as Rick, Soak the wrap in a bucket of water and just feed it from the water bucket right to the header. Worked perfect.

Hey The4ork- got a question on your XB wheels..... Are you using the rear HAL's spacers? What about the front? Did you swap over to XB forks? What year and did they fit your stock triple trees?

thanks a bunch!
