Pete. we're thinking of trailering to Colorado, riding from there to the Gathering, then exploring a bit further south (Austin) for a day or two or maybe the week. Depending on whether we can get a decent taste of the music scene in Austin on the Monday+Tuesday night and get back home for work in five days or we'd have to hang around until the weekend. Weighing the length of vacation time we need in order to see a minimum of what we'd like to versus burning up all my vacation time at one go. A quick two weeks home to home or spread it out to three. We could trailer you down and let you ride back? (Sounds like a dumb plan.) Trailer down together with both vehicles? Bite the bullet and ride from your place? Trailer down and keep you in Texas for a week?

Pete and Frank both. Packages should go in the mail tomorrow if I can get off work in time. Sorry for the delays.

Hey. I just found Leakey. Is that a change of venue from an earlier post? I thought we were meeting in the north end of Texas. Not a big deal. Just wondering.

Originally my thought was to hold the event in Canyon, TX, but once I got the go-ahead I decided to move it to Leakey for a better riding experience (a lot larger, greener, and twistier : D).

Pete and Eric, when you guys say trailer down do you have actual trailers or is it in back of a truck? The reason I ask is this. We can put you all up for the night before we head down to Texas but I am concerned about space in the driveway.... Also, it might be nice to have a trailer just in case Lynn's Sporty breaks down.

Of course our house is not very big but plenty of floor space you can share with S2 parts.

We can make this happen easy.

Frank and Eric,

As much as I hate seeing a Buell on a trailer I do have a three rail bike trailer. Trailering to warmer roads would probably be Janel's first choice. Me, I'm just crazy. I want to ride my new toy.

Arrrgh! I just looked up Leakey, Tx. I swore I'd never go back to San Antone. Too much time spent at Lackland. Oh well, I'll just have to bite the bullet.

Pete, I hear you. I do not have fond memories of Lackland either but it seems like 100 years ago (1981) since I was there. I am glad to be retired. I had numerous TDYs back to San Antonio but never thought of it as a place I would like to live or work.

Fortunately, Leakey seems to be far removed for that area.

Let me think about a place to store your truck and trailer that would be safe, we have plenty of time.

I should be able to make it. I won't know for certain until MUCH closer to the event. It will just be me coming with no passenger. I'm excited.

Sorry, Frank. I hadn't meant to presume on your vehicle storage space. Or ability. Around here, I wouldn't have any qualms about just parking a vehicle on a nice residential street and everyone would assume that it was visitors of someone else. Could get away with a week of that anywhere. But also, I tend to think that everyone has as much driveway as I do (could fit 7 cars) so I tend to gloss over the issue. I actually was being a bit blind to that when Jaci's aunt and uncle in San Fransisco said they couldn't accommodate the car and trailer in front of their house when that was last year's plan. Once I saw the house, I got it.

Another alternate plan came up when I saw where we're heading and that would be to get down to Frank and Lynn's early in the week, ride to Austin, catch some tunes and hang with Denny and company, then go to the Gathering, then ride straight back to Colorado with Frank and Lynn. (and Pete and Janel.)

Use my trailer to Peter's, then Peter's to Colorado. Let Peter return when he wants and we'll ride back up to Peter's and trailer ourselves back over the coldest parts. Need to think about timing, temperatures along the way, vacation scheduling, etc.

We'll see when the time gets closer. Many different ways to skin a cat.

Many different ways to skin a cat. Yes and I was thinking about it today and have a few friends that would not mind having your stuff parked on their property. They are out of the way but it is doable.

I am sure I can get one maybe two trailers in the garage depending on size and I can just rearrange the bikes. Or I can hook one up to my truck (Ford F-250) and just haul a few bikes down. Maybe a couple of S2s...

We will see as the time gets closer.

FWIW, if you need to trailer the bikes to Amarillo, my Dad has two acres outside of town where it'd be safe and welcome to park a trailer for a week.

Oh yeh!! Nice work, Frank.

Thanks for the offer, Ross. And Frank again. We'll have to consider what, if any, passes must be crossed heading south. There were a couple of frosty moments even in July. Jaci and I have resolved to get each other electric vests for Xmas presents.

Eric, the only pass we need to get over will be Raton Pass on the boarder of CO and NM.

The idea of keeping the trailers at Ross's Dads house is appealing.

Ross, make sure you talk to your Dad to see if he is cool with that.

I'm game either way. Looks like I'll be putting the bike to bed soon. 16 deg this morning is a little hard to take. I can bundle up, but black ice can be a true bummer.

I need a little pick me up today, so I called and made reservations at Camp Live Oak. It will be another great time seeing my fellow Buell collectors.

Attaboy Loren. I spoke with Butch at Camp Live Oak when the HellBuellies were there for Thrills In The Hills last month and made sure he'd hold the cabins for us. He did say that there was one cabin already reserved for that date, but that he'd try to "encourage" those folks to move to a different weekend. We'll see...(they might wish they had, if they don't ; ) ). Did he let you pay? He mentioned to me that they would prefer not to take any money until after the first of the year (tax reasons?). It's gonna be awesome! Maybe Erik would like a l'il time away from Wisconsin... unless he's too busy building his new company!

Jay, I made reservations a while ago that might be us that have it reserved. I would love it if he called and tried to talk me into a different weekend LOL.... Classic.

As you well know we will not be getting any swag from Buell this year so when we get closer if there is a good mailing address you can post so the attendees can send some give away stuff that would be great.

Jay, She indicated that they would send a confirmation letter and ask for a deposit after the first of the year.

Frank, Do you have the art for the timing cover in a digital format. I would like to pick up the "S2" font for the T-shirt designs.

Pete, you're in for a good time.

Since all this trailering is going to make another "Longest Distance" trophy unlikely, I'll have to see if I can't scoop the "Most Original" this time. (Assuming Frank doesn't get his resto finished in time.)

Revalved by Racetech, I believe.
