Just wondering what you folks think about the effect of these latest events on Tuber resale prices, e.g., new ones selling for half the MSRP, etc.?

I have no intention of selling my X1 either. Just more of a curiosity.

No way I'm selling Betty.

I'm contemplating selling the S3 frame and parts I've collected. My brother-in-law is in a tough spot financially and would love to have a Buell so I'd also like to do the project and sell to him for my cost. I dunno.. we'll see what happens.

I don't think that recent news will affect tuber prices at all. They are collector items since 02. The fact that more and more of them get chopped, trashed, heavily modified etc should have a positive long term impact on unmolested tubers. They were, after all, the American Hotrods of motorcycles IMHO. Time will tell...

Short term the value will probably go down if you have to sell, best advice is hold on to the bike. Long term the value will start to rise especially if the company doesn't get revived in some way. Yes i'm hoping the company rises again.

Tuber prices have blown for a while now! Really, I think they have hot bottom because many of them are selling for just a bit over what the motor and trans are worth. Sad but true.

Does anyone know what HD is going to do with the Buell spare parts inventory? I have a 99 s3 and I want to keep it on the road for a while longer!

Last time HD did something like this was for the Two stroke bikes of the 70's(aermacchi-HD). HD told dealers to SELL out the bikes(in FIRE SALE style)and once warranty period had nearly passed for the last generation of bikes, ALL Parts were to be liquidated to NON Harley Parts Houses(like Al at American Sportbike).

And they NEVER learn from their mistakes. So I'd bet that this is what will happen, more or less.

I called my local dealer yesterday to find out if there was going to be any problem getting parts for my 99 S3, He told me as far as they were told you will be able to oder parts as normal. Again as far as he knew.

I believe the "7 years" figure comes from the longest warranty you can get for a new bike.

I thought H-D had a fairly good reputation for parts for discontinued models? (Excepting the Aermacchi stuff that is)

My guess is late model tuber values will take a bit of a dive for a little while then recover. They have guaranteed cult status now. Early tubers already did : ) Tubers may never be worth heaps of $$$, but I think over time they will hold their value and become truly collectible, something like Moto-Guzzi's and Laverda's and air-cooled Beemers.

(I'm keeping my X1W, and put down a deposit on an '09 1125R.)
