CAll their customer service line, get on their facebook page, tweet them, send them letters and alert their stockholders!

This is a VERY shortsighted goal, and HD's long-term health is being shorted by them cancelling BUELL, which is their doorway into the youth market.

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!!

In HARLEY-DAVIDSON's "NOSTALGIA" and "MYSTIQUE" mind set the XL1200R is the only "SPORTBIKE" you should buy !!!

To me the nostalgia is the Tuber now.
it was created as well as the newer models to be the best for the time as was the old sportster. People look back fondly at what was great for the time.
The HD folk are in a time-warp.
They should bring back the old black bicycle with a motor on it and pretend that's nostalgic and scratch their heads as to why people who live in the city won't buy the thing. Because Vespa makes a modern scooter-thing that's right for NOW.
People want to be nostalgic with the real thing, not the new thing pretending to be an antique. Unless you're older and wished you kept that 50's something bike, but those are not the people who are going to be supporting the future business.

Free Buell!

I'm not one for public whining, but feedback to the Harley facebook page may actually make an impact.

"Communities" are the buzzwords amongst MBA's now, so watching their community melt down might make even some clueless MBA take notice. They may not understand motorcycles, but they understand a s&^%storm amongst their customers.

Don't just go on and say "Harleys Suck", because they don't. But indicating that you were are (were?) a Harley fan and now are very upset, and why you are upset, is what a community is for, no?

Free Buell! If Harley doesn't want to run Buell and wants to focus on their core goals, God bless 'em. But Free Buell!

"It's the economy, s-pid".

You can argue if HD made the right choice or not, but you can't argue the cause. Inability to sell bikes at the appropriate profit levels.

Why this happened is up for debate.

But instead of whining to HD about the loss of Buell, why not focus the attention to where it needs to be - US CONGRESS!!!

All of the wild spending, taxation, entitlement programs, minimum wages, etc ALL hurt the economy. Here's the basic thing - when the Government takes more money, Unemployment increases and Wages decrease.

Write to Congress and tell them that they are ruining the economy by Cap and Trade, Health Care, raising taxes, etc. You may say, "but it helps out the little guys", but you can't help ANYBODY if there AREN'T JOBS!!!

Dont worry HD is next. They flooded the market with bikes and now wonder why sales are down. Typical greed run management. No forsight, no plan. you HD. I might buy the bikes but that doesnt mean I agree with the way you run the company and manage the bike business. You bastards could have let Buell run, you got the money, its just your all too damn greedy and arrogant to be alive! FU

This makes me sad. I have been a buell fan since the first time I saw an S2 in 2000 when I was 16. When my buddy fired it up, I fell in love with the noise, vibration, and beautiful bodywork. I worked through high school/first year of college to save up to buy that bike in 2003. An SUV took me out and I bought another S2 a while back. Always had a love for Buell and his engineering "habits".

We were riding a great wave while it lasted. The fact that they picked up MV agusta is worse than a knife in the back.

Does anyone know what this will do for getting parts? I know S2 parts are getting harder to come by, should I pick up a bunch of iso mounts and stuff while I can?

It wouldnt hurt to, but i wouldnt worry. As someone else posted, Nortons factory has been closed for 32 years, and they can still buy all the parts for them.

My wife and I went to our local dealer here in San Diego, they are the biggest seller of Buells in town. The manager, who is a patient of mine said they are bringing in bikes from other dealers that just want to off-load them so they don't have to deal. He said they have 7 years to cover warranties and parts, and not all former Buell dealers are required to do that, only those that sign on for it. He mentioned they were all pretty shocked about it on Thursday and weren't expecting it. Still hard to comprehend why HD did it.

I think Erik should have bought his company back from HD. I'm smart enuf to realize that the HD $$$ back in the day helped Buell to get where it is but I honestly think that because of his motivation he would of made it without them.

I hope Erik and company can get Buell back up and running somehow. I'm not opposed to a company like Polaris helping rebuild Buell. I am wary of it though because a similar "downsizing" or whatever HD calls it may happen again.

"It's the economy, s-pid".

I don't think so. This was merely a stunt to try to raise the stock price. They played it off as tho this was about casting some kind of vision for the future direction of HD being focused, etc. Problem is, they have no vision- their big plan is to keep doing the same thing! Keep in mind here that HD has still been profitable this year. 84% less than last year, but still making money. Rumor has it Buell was too (but HD does not release those numbers separate...wonder why? Probably because it would reveal that this was a bone-head move by them).

HD's stock is in the toilet largely because of their finance division, who wrote many sub-prime loans to unqualified buyers. They have borrowed just under 2 BILLION dollars to cover that mess, $1.2 billion of that at 15% interest! Analysts seem to think that that will only last them for another 3-5 months, at which point they will need to borrow more money to stay afloat. Who in their right mind would give them any more money?

HD is a ship sinking, and sinking fast. But it has nothing to do with Buell. We got tossed aside as a publicity stunt. Easy to piss off 125,000 Buell owners to appease the stockholders and 250,000 HD buyers per year.

i agree with you Andy, its be so obvious what hd has become. hd has been building bikes for along long time. I think its pathetic that they still cant advertise to the world about the practicality of owning a motorcycle.....no its all flash and smoke screen. A bunch of hype. All you have to do is to imagine what Buell can do in 109 years. I mean, Harley has been doing the same thing cookie cutting for how long now? Point is price, if candy bar only costs a dollar its in everyones reach. You can even compare hd to the .com bust and the boom of the internet. hd has inflated something that isnt real anymore. It doesnt cost 17k to build a cruiser and make a profit.....esp after over 100 years in the business. So now we have a selfish and ruthless company to deal with. Although the average guy who wants a Hd cant afford it. Its not totally his fault either. But yes dynamics aside the fact remains is that hd did this to Buell for no good reason. Or that is for selfishy reasons that is all about Willie G furthering the image and cult and doing absolutlie nothing else. hd will never change the bar and shield will never change. Tradition and fantasy rule now and later, as long as they are happy and the stock is what they want...its all that matters behind the bar and shield.
