It's the same as a sportster belt of that same time period.
Buell came out with an improved one but you can get away with a sportster belt if you need to.

Yes, 128 tooth. I hope to get a 135 tooth Ulysses belt soon so I can pull my XB rear wheel further back in the adjusters on my S2, and gear up to a 30 tooth front pulley. Right now the wheel sits basically all the way up in the adjusters...

since we are on the subject of belts and teeth...

what drive pulleys are stock on an s1? is there anything i can change them out to for better mpg? i woulnt mind the decrease in acceleration since im planning on doing some perf. mods that will make up for them : p

I believe the S1 had a 27 tooth front pulley, but it may have been a 29 tooth. Either way you can get a 30 tooth front pulley, but make sure to get the longer Ulysses belt. It's also stronger. Another option, which I am doing as well, is get the primary chain and crank sprocket from an XB12 to replace your stock unit. It's geared deeper for an 11% decrease in RPMs. They're $200 new from American Sport Bike, but I got mine for $26 on eBay. Don't get the XB9 though; it's the same gearing as stock.

The belt or the primary? If you have a heavy torque wrench (good for 250 ft/lbs), a service manual, and a primary locking tool, it's super easy and can be done in a little over an hour. The belt on the other hand kinda sucks trying to change it on an S1 because you have to remove the isolator and spread the frame or something like that to slide to belt in. My S2 has sideplates so I can just take the sideplate and iso off and swap a belt in about 30 minutes.

BUELLers:

Compress the LEFT ISOLATOR as much as possible so that you do not have to spread the RIGHT ISOLATOR side any more than you have too ...

OTHER WISE YOU WILL BE SHIMMING YOUR ISOLATORS ...

Will E-Mail ISOLATOR "INFO" if you want it,just e-mail me ...

You'll spring the frame and then you'll need shims to compensate.
How's Lemoore? I was stationed there with VA-146 a LONG time ago.

is there an easy way to tell how many teeth the rear pulley has or just count them?

There's only 2 for XB, and only one that'll fit on the tuber. You have the 65 tooth.

Yep. It is an '04-up pulley, and is the same between the XB9 and XB12. The difference in the two models is the primary gearing.

It is the only PULLEY you can use, but you can convert to a chain and have a larger selection of gear ratios. Like I said before, the primary gearing is the ticket. Easy swap and gives you your mileage/top speed back after the XB wheel swap. There are one or two UK dealers that make different gearing pulleys but they are extremely pricey; way more than chainging the primary. You can change the front pulley, as I mentioned, however. I wouldn't recommend it without getting the 135t Uly belt though.
