ive been told there is "knowledge vault" but i cant seem to find it 
i need to look at how u guys are routing your breather lines.... between the breather setup i have currently and a leaking rocker cover my right pant leg is getting soaked with expensive royal purple oil, and it doesnt smell that great either lol |

Fix the DARN rocker cover (or maybe both) first please. And the breather should go up and then maybe down just to let it drain back first. OH and the knowledge vault is still in the same spot, kind of right after the opening page and worth it's weight in gold (or synthetic oil).

XB rocker covers, stainless braided line running from the turret valves to a pegasus catch can clamped to a frame tube in front of the engine. No oil on the pants unless I forget to empty the catch can EVERY time I fill with gas.
For anyone wishing to copy this setup.. I suggest clamping the catch can to the other frame tube (the one further to the left side of the bike) The way this one is mounted, I can't just empty the can onto the ground - have to hold some sort of container under it or it drains directly onto the chin fairing. I walked through the process with Todd and Angie (can't remember their badweb ID) with their X1 Millenium - according to them, the other frame tube allows draining the can with no mess and no container. |

I don't recommend ANYone putting a breather filter or catch can on the front of the bike. Put it as far back as you can, why run the risk of something leaking and oiling a tire? Look at a race bike; most I've ever seen have the catch can in the area vacated by the taillight.
All my bikes run stock breather setups aside from my S1W, which was modded when I bought it to a breather by the battery. I added a length of hose so now it goes from the head breathers, around the battery tray, and back to the left passenger footpeg mount nub (no pegs, solo bike). Small filter mounted to the end of the hose. No catch can, no puke (with white wheels and frame, I'd see the first drop of oil LOL)...and if it ever does, it's damn near the rear wheel centerline so it would miss the tire on its way to the ground.
+1000. If you know you have a (rockerbox) leak...FIX IT FIRST. |

That braided line sure looks nice but its a bit of an overkill IMO since there is hardly any pressure in that line... |

Kal, I rebuilt Betty with all braided lines so just used some of the extra hose to route the breathers. I agree - buying braided line for the breathers alone would be overkill.
Prey - I got it at oreilly's. it's an APC brand I believe. package said stainless but after I ride in the rain some rust shows up around the edges of the "stainless" mesh. Attached it to the catch can with some odds and ends from an ACE plumbing section  |

I've got a simple breather routed along the frame out the left side of my M2 exiting right beneath the body work.

I finished her on May 16th of this year, put 500 break-in miles on her ASAP, then rode her from Oklahoma City to Milwaukee to get a picture of Mr. Buell on my Buell! Oh, and there was this homecoming thing going on at the time too..

Betty was my first rebuild and first project going any deeper than rocker box gaskets. I owe the success of the project all to helpful and experienced badweb members! Al at American Sport Bike, Dan at NRHS, and Nate at Beartooth HD/Buell were all very helpful too. I would have never gotten her back together on my own.
